Spoilers For Monday December 16th 2013

Post by James Robinson »

So, it's the final week of Countdown in 2013, and after the "mini-shock" of Friday's quarter-final, I wonder what we can expect from these final 5 matches..... :? :?:

Today's quarter-final is the 3 vs. 6 quarter-final, which in most recent years, has definitely favoured the higher seed, as in the previous 10 series, the only two #3 seeds to not win their quarter-finals were Dave Wilkinson in Series 62 and Tom Barnes in Series 64.

So, the #3 seed, Glen Webb, will fancy his chances today against the most recent of the octochamps in this series, in the #6 seed, Jonathan Liew. Will those stats hold true today, I wonder :?: :?:

Now, time for those all important stats:

Firstly, No.3 Seed Glen "The Cradley Heath Cleaver" Webb - 8 Wins, 945 Points. (Average: 118.13)
Highest Score: 141 vs. Martin Wilsdon (5th Game)
Lowest Score: 91 vs. Mike Bailey (2nd Game)
9's Achieved: 5/9
Total Points/Max/%: 945/1093 (86%)
Letters Points/Max/%: 593/696 (85%)
Numbers Points/Max/%: 292/317 (92%)
Conundrum Points/Max/%: 60/80 (75%)

Secondly, No.6 Seed Jonathan "The London Luminary" Liew - 8 Wins, 754 Points. (Average: 94.25)
Highest Score: 120 vs. Richard Allan (6th Game)
Lowest Score: 68 vs. Robin Gray (5th Game)
9's Achieved: 1/6
Total Points/Max/%: 754/1034 (73%)
Letters Points/Max/%: 448/643 (70%)
Numbers Points/Max/%: 256/311 (82%)
Conundrum Points/Max/%: 50/80 (63%)

Join Graeme for his last ever recap later on. ;) :) :D  8-)

It has been so long since we saw Glen, one forgets how good he is. Well played and shame about that last numbers.

Well done Glen, good ton there. The semi-final should be a great match, tricky one to call. Well done to Jonathan also for making the quarters.

Well done Glen one of my favorite players of this series, but he's going to have to go some to beat Callum never mind Dylan in the final.

An example of consistently spotting the sevens and eights, which makes you very difficult to beat.

Just got me with ESTUFAS. It's not in the Collins Scrabble Dictionary, so unfortunately wouldn't be in my wordy studying.

He's strong with letters but might come up short with the numbers.

Unfortunately, not in our dictionary, Mark, but it sounds well impressive.

GRACILE in round 2 and SUAVEST in round 13.

Well played Glen, very solid performance and the outcome never looked in doubt. Jonathan was a bit off though, particularly on his six small, most uncharacteristically. His episodes hadn't been broadcast at the time of filming so none of us knew how dangerous he could be on them.

BOERIE for an equaller in round (12?).

Very impressive performance, Glen. ESTUFAS was excellent and certainly had me beat. Jonathan, I'll be honest and say this is the first of your shows I've seen, but what I can say is someone came up to me today and said how impressed they were with your performances on Countdown. Well done on making it to the finals and earning your 'kryptonite'.
Mike Brown: "Round 12: T N R S A E I G U

C1: SIGNATURE (18) ["9; not written down"]
C2: SEATING (7)
Score: 108–16 (max 113)

Another niner for Adam and yet another century. Well done, that man."

I wish he had - it's not funny after the first time.
I thought I was good at Countdown until I joined this forum
