Consider it a puzzle. Although, not a very hard one.

Heh, I noticed that this morning too. The first two I saw were mine ("don't feed the troll") and Larsen's ("obsessive") and I thought they had been individually assigned!

There are a few others that have special usernames too. ;) Discussion is still going on... sort of... about how to enhance them further.

Haven't been considered a 'rookie' at anything for many years so am happy with this.

However, if there are 'special' names available, then it's also a long time since anyone has called me a 'babe' so I'd be even happier with that if you could arrange it!

Thanks.

It looks like it's based on number of posts apart from a few exceptions. What do I win?

I had to check acolyte in the dictionary to be quite certain of its meaning
a person assisting a priest in a religious service or procession
Sound like altar server to me. Long time since I was last called one of them. :D

Why am I a 'rookie''?
Don't tell me it's because you know a Corbie is a Scottish crow because I wouldn't believe you.

The "Rookie", "Acolyte", "Obsessive" tags relate to number of posts, Chris.

Oh

Hang on, does 98 posts qualify me as a 'rookie'? And why is Howard an 'acolyte'? Isn't that "an altar attendant in public worship"?

My guess is that two more posts will grant you acolyte status, which means we can be altar boys together. :P Hope the priest can cope with both of us.

That's the automatic title for anyone with over 1600 posts, and you have the "honour" of being the only person to reach that milestone. I'll have to add some new ones now.

I think maybe the parameters need to be changed a bit, a lot of people have got to 500 posts now, there's nothing obsessive about it.
If you cut a gandiseeg in half, do you get two gandiseegs or two halves of a gandiseeg?

yup. I was ok about being described as an acolyte, but not too happy about obsessive. :( Even rather be called an old git.

Following popular demand, the ranking system has been slightly revamped and restructured. There are also some new high ranks that even Joseph "Twice Minutely" Bolas has not yet reached.

That's better. Devotee sounds a little better than obsessive. Obsessive is exactly the word my wife uses about me when I get near to my computer, and I don't want her to have any support for that view. Actually, obsessive is just one of the words she uses - the most polite one.

Custom titles are available for the low low price of $59.99. And they make great Christmas gifts!

I don't know why just don't allow everyone to come up with their own descriptive name (one name that they can never change), because not everyone's descriptive name actually focuses on their total number of posts.

I think it would be useful to have factual rankings such as Champion - Octochamp - Teapot Holder - Contestant and Others, but this would not work with the board set-up where it has to go by how many posts have been made.

But then Charlie would have to manually set the tag on all the avatars whereas this way he can automate it.

Other forums I've been on have standard titles for number of posts but allow you to change it if you want. I think that's quite reasonable.

At what point does one reach Kiloposter? Is it put in manually? I reached 1000 posts and I still wasn't one but I'm pretty sure I was before I reached 1024.

Also, Steven Briers is still newbie as opposed to champion of champions or something like that.
