I'm on the last show on the 15th. Apparently if I win I won't return for another match until the 27th, which seems a little strange.

They do filming in fortnightlyish blocks, and you're clearly near the end of one block.

They normally film for Monday-Wednesday, every other week. You have the same schedule as I did, your first day is on a Wednesday so if you have a second (which hopefully you will), it will be on the Monday two weeks later. This gap can be useful as it gives you more time to prepare :)

Good luck Sam!

So are there any more familiar faces from c4countdown and/or apterous that we can expect to see in Series 70? Personally I'm looking forward to seeing Ciaran on screen, I'm sure he's capable of doing well.

I could be totally in the wrong, but I thought I had heard that Mark Murray is recording in series 70. I also thought Zubair Patel's name came up, but I can't clarify either 100%.

Mark will be in Series 70, yes. Zubair passed his audition but I believe he won't be on until Series 71 or later.

I spoke to Zubair about 3 months ago and he did passed the audition but he pulled out cos he don't think he is ready so i presume he will be on series 71 or something like that.

in case if everyone ask me when i will be on filming..im yet to heard but hey! plenty of practise for me :)

That's a very good point Heather, one I feel like I genuinely overlooked in making that post. I think overeagerness took over (sadly even though I'm 23 I have a big inner kid with me). My apologies, and just to be safe I will attempt to redact the information, if it does want to go public I'll...re-unredact it, I suppose.

Just wondering if you've heard anything yet Paul? I sent an application off just before Christmas and also got an email saying it'd be looked at in the new year.

Understand they've got plenty to sort out and it's not even 2 weeks into said new year, just wanted to check they've not forgotten me!

Cheers Jack, appreciate that! Might get to meet Paul at an audition, hope I'd at least get one game before facing him if we both made the show though or I'd have to stick with my generic teapot...!

I didn't imagine they would have misplaced me, even sending the quick email acknowledging they'd got it was more than they had to do, but its good to be sure. :)

It's a pity that Ciaran, Mark and Pete are likely to run into each other, specially so as this series seems unlikely to be as Apto heavy as last.

Obviously it's early days, but I'd say that whoever sits in the champion's chair for the game immediately after Pete' first game has to be a hot favourite, given what we know so far. Problem is, that could easily be on of three apterites, and and who knows what other surprises could be lined up? If we were to have had this conversation about what apterites had applied this time 6 months ago, we'd have been completely oblivious to Bradley Cates and Jonathan Liew, and wouldn't have marked them down as potential finalists.

But it looks almost certain that at least one of Ciaran, Mark, and Pete will make the finals. Possibly two of them, and maybe even all three. Plus we don't know if Paul Worsley will be on this series or not, he would have to be considered a strong contender if he films in time to be part of series 70.

My Scrabble sources say Priscilla Munday will be appearing on the show on Tuesday 21 January.

Having played her several times over the years she's a very quick sharp minded person who can finish a Scrabble game in five minutes. Hopefully she'll stay clear of the usual Scrabble player's 'wordtraps' and use the full 30 seconds to topple the champion

On the British rankings she's number 454 with a rating of 118 (average rating is around 140).

Presumably the higher you're ranked in Scrabble the better your chances in Countdown? Unless I'm completely wrong.
