Podcast Episode 5

Post by Charlie Reams »

The first podcast of 2009, and we have lots to talk about, as well as an exciting mystery guest! Who will it be? Will it be shit? There's only one way to find out, not including asking someone else, reading the comments, using deduction or divination, guessing correctly, guessing incorrectly and using reverse psychology, asking someone else to guess correctly using divination, and that way is to LISTEN NOW!

By far and away the best thing about episode 5 is that the mp3 file is listed as 'ep7.mp3'.

That and this is the first episode not pre-empted by me badgering either you or O'Neill prior to the recording, says Neb acting like he has some sort of say over the whole podcast thing.

Where's the poll? We can compare the results with previous ones to assess whether the MYSTERY GUEST is rubbish or not.

I may have cheated against the bot during the Letters Attack challenge (not my proudest moment), but I swear I won that game fairly Jono. Also I've never used Countmax at all.

It sounded like the mystery guest was using a voice scrambler, as if to protect their true identity.

Not sure how it happened, but having the co-hosts voices coming from different speakers was a nice effect. Shame we didn't get to hear about Colin JONO9 in more detail though.

Yeah, I believe the mystery guest doesn't have a very good microphone, hopefully he'll never be asked back, though.

Good stuff. Maybe we could all put in 5p and but Kirk a microphone?

Before the conundrums were updated to include the common suffixes (-ABLE, -IEST and -ING etc), I played alot of Conundrum Attacks and I got quick at solving most of them that I challenged Kirk to a best of 3 on the Conundrum Attack.

I managed to beat Kirk 2-1 (11539, 11540 and 11541)

But that was a Duel though and also that was after the common suffix conundrums were added back in.

It was a very interesting podcast and prompts me to ask a vital question:

Charlie was coming out of my right speaker, Jono out of the left one. Do I have them connected correctly or have I reversed them cos you can never tell with music :?:

I enjoyed it. Thank you.
I was a little surprised that, for a Countdowner, Jon should pay so little acknowledgement
to the letter T. I think T is a nice sound.

Sorry Ralph, but around such certified toffs I had to cockney it up a bit.

I hope you understand.

Once again, my attempt at humour comes undone. Charlie Jono & Raccoon Boy spend all that time doing a podcast for us and I just use it as a speaker check? As if! But a topic that was raised was the lack of recap of CofC SF2 - I had a go at the man responsible last night and threatened him so expect a posting shortly........... Hope Jono's mum is feeling better after a clear attempt by him to kill her - reminded me that I used to go to school with a boy who murdered his parents just so that he could go on the orphans' outing. I thought it was great to have Michael as a guest and would like to see it repeated with another prominent forummer who has downloaded Skype.

Great podcast though guys, getting better and better - just like Rachel.

Ah. I did use the podcast solely as a speaker check, hence the confusion.

I just downloaded it, and I'd be lying if I said looking forward to finding out who comes out of which of my 7 speakers wasn't a major factor in doing so.

Aye, good stuff as usual, folks. However, Michael has possibly the poshest voice I've ever heard, he makes Brian Sewell sound like a right chav.

Indeed. Hearing it was a real shock to the system - I'm still struggling to reconcile the voice on the podcast with the person who posts comments like "Dude, I'm not gay". Why can't everyone be like me and Corby, who write the way we talk?

I believe that is the quote you were reaching for. I hope Jono's Mum's wrist heals soon.

Great podcast. :)
I think that having a guest speaker is something that should be repeated, maybe a different one each time.

With respect, a Countdown podcast has to be the nerdiest idea in the history of the Earth. I congratulate you, Reams. The podcast is SO lame that, perversely, it turns out to be bloody brilliant! :?:  :!:

Well, bugger. It appears that only Charlie is chatting on the right channel, and since my left speaker is buggered, that rather spoils things a little. Damn stereo!

I've been trying for ages to find a method of playing stereo recordings in mono without success too. Ho hum!
