As a lookahead to a new thing I'm working on for the Corral, have a look at the following list of words:

1. DEISTIC
2. CRUIZED
3. POPJOYING
4. INCHOATES
5. CONSENTS
6. STUDDED
7. ANODIZED
8. DEPLUMED
9. SPADILLIO
10. CANOPYING
11. LAUDIBLY
12. DYEABLY

Which are valid in Countdown? Have a think, and post your answers below if you're feeling brave. I make no guarantees about how many are valid or invalid, and basically any kind of sneaky tactics you might devise will not work, so just use your knowledge and intuition.

Edit: Put 8 and 9 the wrong way round.

1. DEISTIC - Y
2. CRUIZED - N
3. POPJOYING - Y (never heard of this, just guessing)
4. INCHOATES - N (pretty sure this is an adjective)
5. CONSENTS - Y
6. STUDDED - Y
7. ANODIZED - Y
8. DEPLUMED - Y
9. SPADILLIO - Y (SPADILLE is OK, and I think SPADILLIO means the same thing, but just a guess really)
10. CANOPYING - Y (if not, can you have POIGNANCY?)
11. LAUDIBLY - N (surely should be LAUDABLY)
12. DYEABLY - N

I'm pretty sure about 1,4,6,7.8,11 the rest are just guesses, some more informed than others.

Edit: thinking about it I'm now less sure of 6 because it might only occur in combination, but I'll leave it as a Y

"Consents" definitely, because consent is a verb. I'll leave the rest to the experts.

1, yes
2, no (assuming it's substituting the S in CRUISED with a Z)
3, that's not a word
4, no (I'm certain it is an adjective, managed 7 eights from it though)
5, surely yes
6, yes
7, yes
8, no
9, no
10, no (I know CANOPIED is a word but I'll guess no)
11, no (it's LAUDABLY)
12, no, there shouldn't be an adverb from DYEABLE.
