Great British Bake-Off

Post by Karen Pearson » Thu Aug 18, 2011 9:38 am

Does anyone else watch this?

I enjoyed the first series and, as a keen baker, decided to enter this series but I didn't get so much as a phonecall. :(
I suspect this is because they had vast numbers of applicants who fall into the same demographic as me.

Now, I understand the need for diversity on TV but these are supposed to be Britain's 12 best amateur bakers. Hmmmm. There are clearly a few who have a very limited skill set. Let's face it, it can't have been hard to work out that you were going to have to bake cupcakes at some point - and you'd have practiced and practiced till you could do it blindfolded, wouldn't you? I did, however, think it was very tough to make them do their showstopper cake in the first week.

But, overall, I still like it and it gives me some good idea of new recipes to try.

What do you think?
