I have been watching Bir Kelime Bir İşlem, which is the Turkish version of Countdown.
Link to episode #116 is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhRYnbfw8S0
I recommend watching it, if only for the numbers games in this episode.

That in-round music is ridiculous.

Also, Merv Hughes looks different.

I do like the Britney style mikes. They add some showbiz flair. Maybe Countdown could have them. Not so sure about the audience-behind-the-game shots, though.

Having some fun trying to work out the rules, but I'm struggling - why at 9:43 is one of the contestants allowed to buzz in during a letters round with a 7? And what was 15:46 all about?
EDIT: And why do audience members keep offering words with two letters not in the selection?

Because the letters game is harder in Turkish, I guess.Innis Carson wrote:Having some fun trying to work out the rules, but I'm struggling - why at 9:43 is one of the contestants allowed to buzz in during a letters round with a 7?
I'm not sure I've ever seen a 9-letter word, and that's even with the joker.
Odds and evens. To see who gets to pick whether the next round will be "kelime" (word) or "işlem" (calculation). And what was 15:46 all about?
Because they're not Apterites. They make mistakes. And why do audience members keep offering words with two letters not in the selection?
Useful Turkish vocab:
Counting 1 to 10: bir, iki, üç, dört, beş, altı, yedi, sekiz, dokuz, on
Higher numbers: 11 = on bir, 12 = on iki, etc. (simpler than English), 20 = yirmi, 30 = otuz, 40 = kırk
"puan" means point(s), "artı" means plus, "eksi" means minus (as in subtraction or a negative number)

That's fair enough, just kind of surprised me they'd broadcast it if that was all it was. Wondered if there was some kind of partial credit for such words.Robert Lozyniak wrote: Because they're not Apterites. They make mistakes.
Thanks for the clarifications.

The joker would be good on countdown itself, would make for some more interesting words even if it was just for a special between 2 good players
