Revenge of the Egghead

Post by Ian Volante »

There's a new quiz coming up next year with our old friend CJ - anyone one else applied for it? I'm filming early next year, will mention any broadcast info when I have it.

Ah, excellent, I'd heard about it, but hadn't applied, because I didn't have any chance of attending the audition dates.

But, I have got an audition early next year for another show. More on that if I get through. ;) :) :D

Is that the actual title? Assume it's BBC to get away with that. More details please.

It is, and it's hosted by Jezza Vine. It's a team format to build up a pot of money before the end game where we try to win it against CJ. Something like that anyway, I can't really give much away. I'm expecting low question density, but hey-ho, can't complain, should be fun!

I have an audition for the revival of 15-To-1 on January 20. 8-)

Definitely can't wait for that, they've also just announced that the top prize for that will be £40,000. (Definitely better than an Ancient Greek vase, etc. :P )

Ah good to hear of this new series, good luck Ian. Isn't CJ returning to the regular series also, he seemed to imply it on his youtube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijScN41dkuI

He also interviews fellow Eggheads:

Kevin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0sBOHK604k

Barry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkmGPPoYsmI

Dave: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2f2Zbphp7IU

It's going to be a regular series, but of just 20 episodes, Sandi Toksvig will host these, while Adam Hills hosts 4 celebrity specials.

No idea about the time slot either, but I've heard that Countdown's being moved back to 2:40 in the New Year...............

Watched the first airing last night, it took me all my will power to watch it through to the end. CJ is such an arrogant prat I can't stand the thought of watching any more of it. SO if anyone from here is to take part please post your air dates, and make sure you wipe that smug look from CJ's face.

I got bumped from filming in the end, I hear reports that the general standard of contestants isn't particularly high.

I kind of like it to be honest. Just realise that CJ's always gonna be a wanker and I can overlook that bit. Slightly harder questions and played at a faster pace than most quiz shows.

CJ can be an acquired taste. It appears to be an act when he's insulting the opposition, as he's usually fairly polite at the end. I have known him for years (through chess) and he can be really nice, sometimes a little grumpy!

It's not bad, it would be better if they let the other Eggheads each have a turn though.

Anyone watch tonight's edition :?: :?:

That Lisa is actually going to be the newest Egghead, because Daphne has retired, and CJ will return to Eggheads too, so there will be 8 of them too. ;) :) :D  8-)

Yeah, I reserve the C word for special occasions, and describing her more than qualifies for that. I hope they beat some modesty into her before she joins the team... (I meant literally, but physically wouldn't be a bad idea).

There was a former Grange Hill teacher (actor) on today's show I think.

Thanks Ryan. Some tough questions all round. Actually I was nowhere near as good as Jeremy Vine was making out.

The production team made a big deal of telling us we had limited time to build the cash pot and it caught a couple of people out. In the rules though it clearly said that every team would have the opportunity to answer the same number of questions - so there was no need to hurry at all.

Oh, and I'd never heard of Arrested Development!

You did well there, Karen. You're right, there were some nasty ones in there, although judging by the different panel lights and the different camera angles, it must've been one of the first episodes, so probably everyone was a bit unknown in terms of what to expect. :)
