'What's that shape called that never ends?'

Post by Ryan Taylor »

I got this text off someone asking 'what's that shape called that never ends?' I thought some clever people here might figure out what they were after from this vague description.

Lots of possibiltes, the most simple of which is circle.

But I wonder if mandelbrot was the one that you were after.

Or cross cap, or umbilic torus, or Klein bottle

Note: if you don't know about some of them, just click on the names of shapes you don't know about

Is the person who asked you this a bit... square?

Mandelbrot Set was a good suggestion.
Otherwise, fractals in general?
Or a Spirograph?
Tete-a-tete sofa perhaps?

Feel free to add your own accents or other decorative accoutrements.

Thanks for your help guys. "It could well be a Klein bottle good shout there" - apparently a Klein bottle then. Although this sounded as if they just kind of nodded their head to stop the barrage of endless shapes as you would have thought they'd be more affirmative. Case closed nonetheless.

I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.
