Triple Conundrum

Post by Graham Easton »

The following 27 letters contain 3 nine letter words which have the same meaning -

HOTELYEARSSTITCHWINGERCRANE

I'm not sure if this is extremely difficult, very easy or utter stupidity but boredom at work can make me silly !

Needs a starting point otherwise it's just becomes a massive trial and error guessing game.

Things like actually giving the common theme, using more awkward letters to reduce the number of potential combinations could make it work.

Yeah I think clues are needed; there are over 1600 9s in that selection.

I don't want to give a word as a clue because the answers would be far too easy i think

Try this one for size: it's the same idea, twenty-seven letters containing three nine-letter words which are related to the Great British summer. Notably, one would not be valid in Countdown.

Internet words? I'm a rock climber!

I can make 'RAINSTORM' out of that, but I don't really like the letters it leaves me with...

Rainstorm is a very cheeky one considering the description :)

The others, I think are 'CRICKETER' and the not valid on Countdown one, 'Wimbledon'

Ah well done, nowhere near either of those. That's quite a neat little puzzle that.

The closest thing I can see to a link is Britain's Got Talent - taking out AUDITIONS leaves the London PALLADIUM, where DIVERSITY will be performing.

I wondered if it wasn't a little tenuous - by the end of my writing that sentence it realised that it wasn't, but neglected to go back and alter the opening words.

Here's another to contend - all three words are valid in Countdown, so I'll keep schtumm for now on the clues:
