This unfortunately has killed a lunch hour. I win most times, somehow?

It doesn't seem to be very well programmed IMO, I've played twice and won both times, and it's (seemingly) made some very poor choices (e.g. establishing that the word ends in -ME and then trying ACME straight after CAME gave no white stars!)

That's how I keep winning then.

How many goes does it/you normally take to win? I just played once and lost on go 6 but I had three correct in the right place on that round.

A dumb loss in this game legitimately just made me use a four-letter word.
I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.

After each go it says how many valid words are left. I assumed it picked from them. Anyway after my first go I realised it makes a difference what word you choose. Picking common letters means that for every thing it knows about your word, the more words it still has to choose from. I mean, if there was one word that began ZQ then once it knew my first two letters it would know it all.

I dunno, I picked FUCK which doesn't have any really common letters but I won on go 9 and it wasn't anywhere near my word, never getting any more than one white star.
