Not really scrag as Jojo played really well but this is a lovely game which could be GOTW but I missed an easy nine and therefore deserves to go in scrag.

TAILBONE and PESHWARI seemed great spots, and I had the backup SHARPIE in the latter, but this all went horribly, horribly wrong...21 up turned into a loss.

Some lovely words but until round 11 this was scrag city. Got a bit better after that but I still lost. Well done Chris.

I said to myself that id have a quick go on apterous, and get an easy century against apterous nude
it took me 13 attempts

http://www.apterous.org/headtohead.php?p2=99&p1=2399

amongst some of the games are good words, but in general my performances were dispicable. Not massive scrag, but so incredibly frustrating

The only positive to come from Chris' game there was that despite having what can only be described as an absolute nightmare, it showed he was a perfect gent in defeat. And I suppose it's also encouragement to us mere mortals that even the very best players go blank sometimes.

Anyhow, very best of luck to Chris at the recordings - hope he goes on to do great things and in years to come, I'll claim that I once beat a Countdown superstar!

Ah, the target of 937 with a 1 in the selection in round 10 is going to cause a lot of smiles for 4 large fans ---- 937.5 rule coming into obvious play right there.

I'd already declared 938 (don't know how the hell I decided upon that) and realised immediately that I could have got it exactly by subtracting the 1 before dividing by 100/50, but was just a tad too late to change my declaration. Only thought of taking that route in the last few seconds of the round.

Yup, if you look at the image URL it's not actually an image at all, it's a PHP script. Whenever you request a script, it dynamically generates and then returns the content (like the dynamically-generated pages that make up the Apterous site), which in this case is an image.

Very cool, but I guess also frustrating - the first time I saw it yesterday it was an utterly awesome facepalming, and every refresh since has been a bit hit and miss.

Yeah. I have already used it somewhere else on this forum actually, but I forget where.

It's a neat device to deflect attention away from shit games in this thread, by the looks of it.

Pff, you should have seen my Duel yesterday. I'm shit at Hyper, but I plumbed new, unexplored depths of shit with that one, including forgetting to declare 6400 in round 8 despite having it after about two microseconds.

I think it's good that I still get a bit annoyed about stuff like this.

Ladies and gentlemen, I did something that I'm sure no other contestant has ever done before in the history of Countdown.

I declared a 1-letter word. Unfortunately, the word was I and I got no points.
