Common or high probability words you still always miss

Post by Graeme Cole »

Mine:

TOTALISE / TOTALISES / TOTALISED
DINOSAUR
LIAISON
FEDORA - I'm wearing one in my apterous picture. According to superstats, the plural is my most missed word ever.

Yours?

Mine says in tiedfirst there is ORIENTAL/RELATION , AUDITOR , TADPOLE and TAONGA. These were all from ages ago when I was rubbish. Wouldn't miss any of 'em now (except maybe TAONGA)

Any word ending in -TION, which is probably why I'm rubbish.

On the top of my list is ANODISE[S/D/R], AVERSION, NOTARI[ES/SE}, and TRIAGE[S/D] for words I know the meanings of that come up a lot. Also GIRASOLE/SERAGLIO as a set of letters I see a lot that I haven't gotten.

Yea the frequency that I miss "apto-spots" is a bit ridiculous.
There are no such things as methods. Only madness.

TANDOORI. How is anyone supposed to get a word that ends in an I?

I could never spot AUDITOR until I connected it with OUTRAID^. Same with LONGATE^ for TANGELO.

Yep. This topic used to get discussed a lot more in the past so I'm probably repeating myself, but I found these false-a-grams to be very useful scaffolding. After a while of using ROADIEST^ to get ASTEROID, you find you can remove the scaffolding and go straight to ASTEROID, but the false words makes it a lot easier to get to that point. And if it's a common phony like MOANIEST^ then so much the better.
