Hyper Numbers Tourney + Duel

This is my first go of organising a tournament, I hope it doesn't go too badly.

Duel
Subject to confirmation from Charlie, the duel this coming Saturday will be a Hyper Numbers Attack, my suggestion to Charlie. The top sixteen players in the duel will be invited to this tournament. If there is sufficient demand, a tournament for everyone else will be held. I ideally want the top 16 hyper numbers players playing in the tournament so if anyone knows they cannot make the Duel on Saturday but wants to play in the tournament needs to PM me before 10pm this Tuesday 9th November. I will then try to arrange a slot before Saturday where you can do a Hyper Numbers Attack against Apterous Prune with me present so you can't just start multiple games and then finishing only your best one. If your score from this is in the top 16 including the duel, you will be invited. Although this may be biased one way or the other, I still think the top 16 players will come through. If you qualify, post after Saturday here indicating that you want a place. If you don't please PM me ASAP so I can offer the place to someone else.

Tournament
Invitational
There will be four groups of four, in the format with top 2 qualifying for the quarter-final
Group A - 1st 7th 10th 16th (on qualifying score)
Group B - 2nd 8th 9th 15th
Group C - 3rd 5th 12th 14th
Group D - 4th 6th 11th 13th
It is done in this way so it is possible for 1 to play 8 in the next round.

Open (Subject to demand and not those in the invitational)
Will be straight knock-out with a random draw.

It will be 2 from the top. Anyone not able to do the duel can choose however many from the top they like.

Be hard to avoid. If Prune starts, he will choose one large so the idea would be dead.

And then the player could pick 2 large and Prune would follow for the rest. So even in the worst case scenario you can ensure that 19/20 picks will be the same, possibly 20/20.
It's not ideal considering they'll be different selections, but at least it helps keep some consistency. I'll duel on Saturday (and come below the top 16) so it doesn't matter to me, just saying!

Is it really that important to cater to people who can't play the duel? I mean, you have the entire day to do it, and it confers some advantages (such as if a regular NA crashes you don't blob the round, and (if people are being naughty) you can quit mid-round if it looks difficult).

Yeah, agreed. You know if it's just the people who make sure they show up on Saturday too that you're going to get a bunch who are a bit more dedicated than someone who just forgets to enter the duel.

Also, how are ties on the duel going to be decided? Matt and I are tied for 6th, and Oliver and Edward are tied for 11th. Personally I think I should finish higher than Matt because I would have scored 200 if I had scored more points, so clearly I put in the superior performance.

Everyone should play at least one game by midnight on Tuesday 23rd November (the Monday night/Tuesday morning. Yeah sorry about that, I've been trying to get games but the one time I was online at the same time as some of the other dudes my apterous window was borked so I couldn't challenge anyone. I finally got around to playing a game.

Just before we played I successfully put Josh off a conundrum in a game he was playing, thus completely throwing his mental state. This, coupled with the apto-crash I bribed Charlie to cause after round 6 meant Josh was completely thrown and I could capitalise after a shaky start from both sides. Towards the end, however, Jack clearly worked out what I was up to, threw off the shackles of my mind games and started a comeback, alas it was too late and my evil schemes worked out nicely.
