Spoilers 2010/2011- A New Tournament
This is a new tournament, to be played on Apterous, similar to Kai's Goatblitz. I must take 16.
This will be a group and knockout tournament.
The first 2 rounds shall be done between Dec 19 - Jan 1 and the remaining rounds will be done between Jan 23 - Feb 20
You get one week to play a game, like Goatblitz, but if you fail to play in the group stages, you get 20 points each and no win.
Variant: Spoilage
Rounds of 30 Seconds
Format: 9 Rounder.
Scoring: Flat
Find under Custom menu - Full Custom - Variant - Spoilage - Scoring - Flat - Format - Standard 9
Anything else you need to know?
Websites: To sign up, please say yes, or put your in the list on the wiki.

I don't think you'll get 32 people who'll want to play Spoilage.

Re: Spoilers 2010/2011- A New Tournament
I'd enter, but it's not that exciting trying to work out whether a set of letters gives floccinauchinihilipilification as an answer.
I do appreciate more tournaments though, might be worth having a rethink on format - weird ones just aren't as popular, so bear that in mind, as 32 is quite a crowd for any tourney.

I'll have a go. Timing should work, provided I can get first round played before Christmas Eve.

I'll have a go, but Rhys, no way will you get anything even approaching 32 players for this.

Best not given that I've no idea where I'll be between those dates - web access will be intermittent. Probably.Rhys Benjamin wrote:so is that a yes or no?Ian Volante wrote:I'd enter, but it's not that exciting trying to work out whether a set of letters gives floccinauchinihilipilification as an answer.

I've decided to use Spoilage ratings, then (since most people are on 1533, 1433 or 1333, then I'll have a look at their spoilage games (how do I do that?)

I don't want to discourage you from running this but just a few of my views for you.Rhys Benjamin wrote:4, excluding myself.
- Feisty's Winter Closed is happening around this time so having 2 tournaments running in the winter month(s) is a bit unnecessary, it's like having the FIFA World Cup and European Championships overlapping.
- Kai just ran a Goatblitz tournament with half as many entrants and found it difficult to keep things flowing (nothing on him, just the people who were in it).
- The Spoilage game itself is pretty quirky so maybe change of variant, still to one that's not been done before but something a little easier and widely played.
- Considering you have just 4 people at the moment would suggest that it's not in huge demand so maybe reduce the numbers because (as others have said) it will be hard to get 32 people to do it.
So, maybe choose a different date or time of year because apterous events become less significant the more of them there are and if they are close together (like if all Co-events were bunched together). Could do a 8 man league table of it as there are about 8 people who are decent enough at it.
Don't wanna shoot you down or owt but yeah.

Well, it's only been up for less than a week, and there's still a month to go.Ryan Taylor wrote: - Considering you have just 4 people at the moment would suggest that it's not in huge demand so maybe reduce the numbers

If I'm stuck, I'll try using the bots, except Rex of course.
They won't be competing for the prizes - so when you play them, play flat scoring.

Pay people to enter. £100 should do it. I hear you have backing.Rhys Benjamin wrote:If I'm stuck, I'll try using the bots, except Rex of course.

I don't do dosh.
New site up. See first post.
Now I have a nice neat system to include excess support:
Prune
Waldorf
Nude
Ceaser
Plum
Sponge
Velvet
(have I missed one out?)
I'll put them in if I'm REALLY stuck.

Oddly enough I just noticed that Spoilage is called "Octorock" in the help section ("Coming soon..."). Maybe a previous incarnation?

There's only 1 more day to go for signing up and I can bend the format a little to take 16, but even then I need 2 more. Anyone up for it? Plus the bots are playing!
Editors note: I'll sort out bots vs bots.

I can now say we have 16 people. If you REALLY want a place, I could expense you at me, or one of the bots.
