I've had some frustrating times trying to break the hypertouch letters attack record recently:

"BACKDATE might be two words, better play it safe and go for TEAHEADS". :x Record was 190 at this point so would've been a new one.

http://apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=221698

"KLAVIERS is a much cooler word than BAULKIER" :x :x

http://apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=222547

"DISTURBABLE: its blatantly a word" :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

http://apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=222761

Never have I been so close to an act of apto-inspired violence.

On the plus side, hypertouch is a really fun little game, its a pleasure to actually use your brain again when playing countdown.

Maybe if you had taken the extra time? Sorry, James, you can't ignore a feed line like that. Seriously though, some lovely spots there, very hard luck.

It's still a pretty impressive game, although to be honest I'm not sure it's something I'd perservere at given that it's largely out of your hands (most games would have a sub 200 max).

I've been trying to beat my Hyper Unlimited Letters Attack score of 208 for a while now…now that I've gotten better at spotting 11's and learned some things that can and can't be -NESSES, I can get pretty close to the average of ~10.5 per round that I would need to beat it. Then, this: after the first 10 rounds, I was on for a score of about 218. I started getting pretty excited. I continued to get approximately 10 points per round, so that after round 18, all I needed was 16 points from the last 2 rounds for 208. So basically, I thought, one more SENSELESSNESSES and I'm home free. But no! Although I probably should have gotten BETIDED, it wouldn't have helped much, because in the last round all I could see was GUNMAN anyway…for a max.

It's quite annoying how there have been four separate games on touch numbers attack where I've got 19 out of 20 spot on and the other one has been impossible. Of course there have been many where 200 has been possible but I've just been too rubbish to get it.

And yeah, I could have settled for the 197 and a max score in some of those but it's not what I'm after!

Losing this game really pissed me off, especially considering velvets PB going into the game was 138.

In my recent pencil mining activities I ended up playing a Finnish Aegilops Letters Attack. I ended up declaring no valid words and must now play many finnish aegilops conundrums to finish the game (aka will have it on my apterous until the end of time). Probably not the place to vent my annoyance but I had to put it somewhere.

Another niner for Adam and yet another century. Well done, that man."

Unlucky. Once I maxed a 2-large game and Apterous just wiped it from existence. Still I don't think either compare to round 14 in this game.

Ah yes, one of the classic pressure solves. I did get it playing along but I mean it's so much harder when you're on the show and you HAVE to get it to stay in the game.

Worst part about the game I linked is that the last two were slam dunks. Ah well, I'll give the max game another attempt today.

I've equalled my highest score of 127 a couple of times, but haven't come close for ages. Then this happens 2 days running:

http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=454443

http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=455019

On for 135 and 136 resepctively, but bottled it on the conundrum both times.

Just posted my 3rd 19/20 max 2 big numbers game.

The first two, at least I could say the round I missed was, to an extent, a fairly difficult round.

There is NO EXCUSE for me to miss round 8 in my most recent one-miss fail. Seriously. 100 + (7*10) + 2 is a completely inexcusable miss. There's even (100 - (10+(7-3))) * 2 there and I was trying for a 86*2 solve for a lot of that time in the round.

I will fly one day

I'm not sure what would've been worse here -- getting the last round and blowing a first max nums attack on THAT round, or not making the typo (100 PLUS (50/2), NOT MINUS YOU DOLT) and losing it on round 20.

Though that last round's solution may have given me an epiphany on my weakest 2 large rounds -- 50 25 x x x x -> 850+. Subtracting a small from 25, then x 50 to get close, or on certain targets a small from 50 then x 25, can get those. Usually I'm bewlidered by them, especially if the smalls aren't very cooperative for (75+/-X)*(Y).

I get this weird feeling I'll have at least 5 more posts here before I finally get one :x

the final result is 180 attempts

max game brought to you by Vyvanse, which, while it functionally serves the same purpose as alcohol in that it makes me want to play numbers attacks, differs from alcohol in that in does not cause me to play badly or misenter a solve once a game.
