Guess who's going to be doing a LOT of practice on numbers before COLin It's annoying... after playing this game, I then watched Wednesday's and Thursday's episodes on TV back-to-back and got every numbers game spot on, including two Carol-beaters... but it's getting them when you're actually playing that counts, and I've been having a bit of a mare on the numbers in COGST... every one that hasn't been dead easy, I've missed

So again I luckily scrape through on a crucial conundrum, I'd rather be winning more impressively but what can you do - Jono is a great player and I always knew it would be difficult. Well played mate

Paul, I thought my performance here was v reminiscent of yours in your epic series SF vs. Conor - getting the maximum on every letters round and totally ballsing up on two difficult numbers rounds either side of a dead easy middle one... although I didn't have the excuse of studio pressure, facing Conor etc.

I didn't spectate, but it was nail-biting reading the recap. Magnificent game, Jon and Julian, including many words I hadn't even heard of.

I was annoyed that I didn't get CAPELINS when I read the game through. I got CAPLINES, which is exactly the mistake I made in Junaid's game of 23rd Sept. aaarrggghhh!

Ha, very diplomatically put. The sad thing is that neither of those numbers were that difficult and I think both me and Conor would've solved them exactly on a typical day just watching at home, but as you say the pressure of the occasion gets to you.

I read and played along with the recap of that game in the comfort of home (well, my room at university) with no pressure on me, and I totally messed up the first and third numbers as well To be fair Paul I think they were fairly tricky!

Edit to say: and Carol didn't get them either, did she? (IIRC)
