In 48 hours we should be crowning the CO:LON Master 2011. Who will it be?!??!!

Also, the costume competition prize has arrived, and it is fabulous. I still don't know what my costume will be. Not sure I can rustle up that 'sexy raccoon outfit' at such short notice. Perhaps I shall go for the 'protester' costume in the video I linked earlier. I pretty much look like a hippie anyway.

Nothing clever about it. I live in Shepherd's Bush so I'll be using the Central Line. I still implore anyone arriving into Kings X to walk.

I've had exactly this misunderstanding in real life.. my friend Jess who goes to King's College, London texted me saying to meet at King's X - I went to the uni, she went to the station. Fucken embarrassing.

IMPORTANT
Central's just gone down. It's very dodgy but I'm hearing that severe delays are on the ealing broadway bit and minor on the rest. Signal failure at North Acton, suspended on the west ruislip branch.

It's not on the TFL website yet but it is on this twitter feed (usually reliable)

Awesome event. Truly, utterly awesome event. Was great seeing everyone, new faces like Mark and Tom, regular faces like Jono and Mike, and old faces making a comeback like Paul & Nick.

Highlights for me have to be the costumes on display (even if Jono's did display a bit more than needed), managing my own best performance in ages (even if I did miss out on the final by one measly point...) and Ryan successfully predicting the future during his final round game with Phil.

Huge amounts of thanks and kudos go to Raccoon Boy and Count CF for as-always excellent organising and as-always excellent freebies.

Roll on the next one.

I think this is to do with global threads appearing in all the subforums. This thread seems to mark its posts read only if you access it from the "Countdown - General" subforum; you can read the whole thread after accessing it from one of the other subforums, but its posts won't be marked as read until you've done so from "Countdown - General".

Yet another great Co-Event, so (witch's) hats off to the organisers for providing such a well-run day. Well done to Matt for a typically modest victory in the final and to Thomas for being a worth runner-up. As usual, it was great to see everyone (again) and I will treasure my apterous mug for the 'over-achiever' award, even if I'm not convinced that my ProRank was really representative. And thank you to the people behind the clock change overnight (whoever they might be) - having got home at about 1.20 in the morning the extra hour in bed was very handy!

Thanks for the feedback guys, glad people apparently had a good time. Been a bit slow in posting since the laptop went a bit borked as a consequence of its CO:LON exertions. Just about back to normal now.

I have a camera full of photos which I shall sort through when I'm a little less hungover, and plenty of ideas for how to make next year better (having cocked up scoresheets would be a good start...).

Thanks to the various people who assisted, either by techie things (i.e. Charlie) or moving things around or by not heckling me, much appreciated.

Oh, and well done to Matt for winning!

Edit: Standings may take a bit of time, since with my laptop dying I'll have to root around to get hold of them. Watch this space...

That was without a doubt the best CO-Event ever. Even though I came 4th (blast those 2 points!)

But I was well impressed with my 5 wins, especially beating Oli, and getting revenge from CoNot on Jono and Rob. (GET IN!

)

And in fairness, I have no complaints about losing to Mark, I just decided to collapse at the worst possible moment.

But afterwards at the Wetherspoons was definitely one of the best nights of my life, spending it with all my friends, just absolutely brilliant.

Will bring up pics when I get back to Mirfield tomorrow.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying Amie's hospitality.

Well basically, I ordered a garlic ciabatta bread at Wetherspoons and the guy came round with it. I was about to say that it was mine when Robinson said faster than the speed of light "That's mine" in his best impression of Boris Johnson and grabbed it. I assumed that he'd probably ordered the same as me so there'd be another one on the way. Turns out not. He just got over-excited at the sight of my food.

Actually a garlic bread with cheese then arrived which turned out to be James's, but really they are completely different. He hadn't started my garlic bread so I took it back and he had the cheese one, but mine had been on his (probably dead animal-based) food and had his fingers on it, so I should have taken the upgrade and made him eat mine.

Yeah, sorry about not having the scores yet. As I think I already mentioned, my laptop died following its CO:LON exertions, and so trying to get everything back in order has taken some time (compounded by my starting a new job this week). I'm still trying to find out whether the results file is even on the machine any more, if not I'll have to go through the scoresheets (which I found this afternoon) and do it from that.

A delayed reply in this thread... but a belated big thank you to Michael, The Count, Charlie, the engraver of the winner's trophy for not raising an eyebrow, and anyone else who helped to organise CO:LON 2011. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and as always it was a pleasure to meet with a bunch of such lively, like-minded, words-and-numbers-geeks.

Thank you also to Tony, Mike, Martin, Michael, Mark, and anyone else who's congratulated me on c4c on probably the most unlikely win yet at a Co-event. I owe it all to Jimmy Saville, for fixing it for me; to Ryan Taylor for a stroke of outstanding sportsmanship; and to apterous for allowing me to practice all those Dutch and Aegilops games which formed pretty much the entire basis of my preparation.

Finally, I don't think there's yet been enough appreciation for the efforts Michael went to in creating the CO:LON prizes. So here are a few piccies, showing the goodie bag in all its treat-packed glory. (Note: laptop not included.)
Now you all have no excuse for not attending next year...

I remember saying Jim fixed it for me when accepting my trophy. An unfortunate claim, given the subsequent revelation of his crimes, but at the time of writing (Saville's death was announced shortly before the final of COLON2011), it was a topical gag reflecting the unexpected line-up of the final.
