A fantastic game from both players - 13 maxes for Julian and 12 for Ben is pretty hot shit - the same sort of standard as towards the end of the last CoC. Ben rallied well after a slow start to give us a nailbiting finale which could've gone eitehr way!

Awesome!

FINAL ON SUNDAY: EADIE VS. FELL. 9PM. BE THERE.

Yes really well played Ben - I thought I was a goner there. Thanks v much to Jono for hosting and doing the recap.

For what it's worth - a few of the declarations were the other way round Jono - in round 2 it was me who got OZONIDE and Ben who got DEMONIC; also in round 7 it was me with ENTRAINS and Ben with TRANNIES.

And before anyone else points it out - I did say ... +2 at the end of my solution to round 10!

Also, just realized that SEALANT is a mass noun :? ...but I think SEALANTS would be allowed on the show (has it been allowed before?), certainly you deserved the points there Ben because I was nowhere near seeing that.

And I should point out that I was lucky with the numbers - both in terms of having the two choices, and in terms of Ben's 3-large turning out to be easy. If the numbers'd been more unfriendly Ben could well have been out of sight by the conundrum

I've made those adjustments now. Also I don't think SEALANTS would be allowed on the show, for what it's worth, so I'm glad that didn't affect the outcome

Surely it would? Damian?

We need like a Batman signal we can shine to get him in here.

Or I could PM him I guess.

I think SEALANTS is arguable either way - it's a 50-50 one and in such cases, as Damian has said, DC tend to reward the risk-taker (i.e. Ben). Would be interested to hear Damian's view though. Thanks for editing the text recap Jono - I took the liberty of doing the same for the Wiki recap. Also well played vs. Matt G

Cheers for both of those and yes - SEALANTS is one that can go either way I agree. It's about as unclear a case as you could ask for, putting GAMBIERS, CRYOLITES etc. to one side.

Sorry - been in studio didnt see the thread - well done Julian and unlucky Ben.

3 easy-ish numbers probably did you Ben. I just read the recap and played along myself, (albeit for about 3 mins in total) and i would have lost on the conundrum. I could have swore POUTFISH was acceptable for 8. Turns out not. There is a fish called a pouting, and an eelpout, but not a poutfish, so it would have done me. Eucalypti is 6 seconds is pretty hot..............., not sure i'd see that one in a week, never mind 6 seconds.

As for sealants - we WOULD accept it. I think its arguable, but you can buy different types. Kitchen, bathroom, UPCV window sealant etc...........

Would definitely allow it.

Will do my utmost to be around for Sunday at 9pm, if not earlier to see the warm-up acts.
