So overall, it was a titanic battle between these two players with the final scores reflecting the high standard of the words the players were producing. Jason led briefly in round 7 but stupidly risked FOLIATERS which luckily did not cost him the match when FOLIATES was a much safer bet! Otherwise, Dan led all the way through the match - from round 2 - however, Dan was never more than 7 points ahead of Jason. The numbers games were fairly straightforward with Dan's risky attempt to kill the game off with 6 small numbers in round 14 failing to pay off due to the very low target. But, Jason won the game on a crucial conundrum by spotting the word RACEHORSE in a very quick time.

So, Dan Vanniasingham drops into the Plate competition meanwhile Jason will have to pit his wits against some of the best Countdown players that ever lived!

Wow, wish I'd staked £100 on JaCu when he was 60-1 now. Very high quality game.

Thanks for doing the recap Jason, and well played once again. That may have been my first proper 15 round game, so at least I have a 100% century record to go alongside my 0% win record. :)

I genuinely felt beforehand that I'd be the underdog, going off your constant beater-spotting and my terrible form, and so it proved (just about). CONATION was a great spot, and now I've heard of it I won't forget it! Good luck for your other games.
