"Pettet not in the best of order. Reams shoeless."

Sounds great. I will now stop clicking refresh on Phil's twitter page every few seconds and go play tennis. I don't envy not being there. At all. Honest.

More tweets from Phil

18:01 "I beat Jono!"

18:01 "Less importantly, Kirk and Innis are in the Grand Final."

18:19 "Correction correction correction. Carson - Garner is actually the final. Kirk got edged out on game points by Oli and Charlie on 5/6."

"Innis has averaged 71 per game so far. I make him the 1/2 favourite with Garner 6/4."

Final progress

18:28 "Kirk has just tossed off Oli and Innis. Oli is going first, as it were." :o

18:30 "R1: 6 apiece. Charlie Dent got an 8 to shame the contestants."

18:32 "R2: Oli's XXXXXXXX beats Innis' invalid XXXXXXXX. 14-6."
edited to remove spoilers

18:34 "R3: Innis' XXXXXXX is good enough against the invalid XXXXXXXX. Kai Riley finds an 8 though."

18:36 "32-31. Good eights from the guys followed by an easy numbers."

18:38 "CF Hammond delights the audience with an anecdote about vaginas. Win."

18:41 "Innis' XXXXXX followed by sevens apiece makes it 44-39 in the Scotsman's favour."

18:44 "R8: Dictionary Corner find the impressive XXXXXXX. 51-46.

18:47 "R9: More octomagic from Innis. A subsequent target of 550 with 8, 3 and 50 on the board mean Garner 56-69 Carson with one part left."

18:49 "R11: XXXXXXX is invalid from Innis! 62-69."

18:52 "R12: What's a XXXXXXX? A xxxxxxx, apparently. Anyway, the pluralised version has just opened Innis up into a safe lead again."

18:54 "R13: Garner 70 - 85. And then they both get the numbers! Innis wins!"

18:57 "The conundrum defeats both (but not Richard Priest). Final score: Garner 80-95. More drinking now."

Mate, it was awesome. Despite playing quite shit (a natural consequence of an event in a pub) I had a great time. Congrats to Innis for winning, Ollie for getting to the final, and especially Raccoon for doing a great job of hosting the day. Brilliant!

Cheers guys; glad it seemed to go well. Also thanks to Charlie (for being my scores secretary) and Neb for his invaluable advice whilst I was preparing for the whole thing. Also thanks to Kirk and Kai and Charlie (again) for volunteering to do the final; I really couldn't be bothered and you guys did an awesome job.

I might try and provide people with less tat next year :) (if there is a next year :o).

As my first ever Co event I really wasn't sure what to expect but the whole day was great fun. Hope there certainly is one again next year.

It was a really good day, well worth the trek. Was great to meet so many people for the first time and to see some familiar faces again, and I had loads of fun overall as I'm sure everyone else did. Thanks to Michael and everyone else involved for doing such a good job of running it, hope it becomes a regular event.

Excellent day, and I too hope it becomes a regular event. Thanks Michael and CF for organising everything.

Would like to blame the booze for my poor result (holding it in a pub was a superb innovation btw), but actually I thought I played well, and the quality of the opposition was imo the highest ever.

I was pretty drunk by 2pm and with the weather being awesome, I wasn't too bothered about Countdown tbh. Innis absolutely stuffed me so well played mate.

Not only did Innis travel all the way from Edinburgh to come to this event, he also travelled home at 11pm for 9 hours on a coach. Correction, he missed the 11pm coach and so didn't get home until this evening. Ridiculous - probably the most nightmarish journey home from a CO-event to date. I'll let Innis fill you in.

Excellently run tourney Michael, thanks a lot. Having it in a pub was great (just needed a beer garden so I could get a tan) and having it in a pub with a dartboard was even better. Probably the best CO-event yet with the toughest competition and the one which had the most participants in the after-event-drinking-sessions.

Hee hee! That one of me and James is class.

Oh, and just to say that Saturday was ace. My games were all fantastic - I had 5 crucials and lost 83-49 to Innis. Regarding the day as a whole, the key protagonists included:

1. Getting caught in a shitstorm of Cardiff fans on the way.
2. Young's Gold.
3. Jono throwing some of my vowel cards out of the window in a drunken rage.
4. CF calling Kai a "fuck" when the latter got a bit lairy.
5. The scenic route to 'Spoons.
6. Heather dealing out the put-downs.
7. Tuborg.
8. Lloyd Pettet wanting to go to the West End.

Cheers Michael, hopefully see you next year.

OOooh - I ought to add my huge thanks to the Racoonteur for a fantastic day before you all think I'm a) miserable b) miffed at coming nowhere c) fed up of being in my baby bro's shadow d) still traumatised by the experience of being in the actual same space as so many legends.
Hugely enjoyed the hosting of the final and I think someone should let Damian know that Susie's etymology spot can't compete wthith what CF knows about vaginal health. ;)

I think in the unlikely event he applies to go on we'll have to start a campaign to have Dr. Phil in DC for his show(s).

A slightly belated thanks to Michael for a brilliant event. As usual, it was great to meet everyone again as well as some new faces. I was pleased to end up 10th among such esteemed competition and the grand final at the end was well worth watching too. Surely there has to be another CO:LON next year after that, loved it from start to finish.

An amazing event. Sorry for short post but being called to bed after having tried to guess my C4C password for about twenty minutes too long.
Still down in London, not home yet.

What an awesome event. Was amazing meeting you all (seriously, didn't even leave thinking 'he was a bit of a prannock' about anyone) and without getting too emotional, genuinely touching and special that I felt I'd already known some of you for a long time. Which, I guess, I have.

Just checked - I've got both polos! Awesome spot. I love it. I wonder now if there were more times James changed his polo to other similar patterns, like a Krypton Factor observation round that we all failed.

I've just watched some greatest TV moment cock-ups where you see the cameraman in a reflection of a bay window, shiny car or sunglasses, the boom mike coming into view, and continuity errors galore. Some of the spots were fucking awesome and this reminds me of that somewhat.

The reason I changed shirts was because I was preparing myself for a very hot day (which it was), so I actually brought along 3 shirts. I started off wearing the thinner-striped polo, which is current fave at the moment, then I switched to a Huddersfield Town polo which they actually gave out at a match just a few weeks earlier as a thanks to all the loyal fans, then I switched to the thicker striped polo, which keen viewers will also note is the same polo that I beat Karyn Cooke in when I was on the show. :geek:

Unfortunately, I got rid of the red one that I lost to Patrick in, not because of bad memories, but because it caused chaffing on my arms. :x

I reckon Co:Lon '11 will feature a rule that everyone has to bring enough t-shirts so they can wear a different one for every game.

I'm not sure MWM can think of enough jokes to make that happen for us.

What's wrong with putting two such pleasant curves on display in this context? (I'm talking of course about your use of question marks in the middle of the word.)

Is there going to be / has there already been a Co:Lon 2011?
Mike Brown: "Round 12: T N R S A E I G U

C1: SIGNATURE (18) ["9; not written down"]
C2: SEATING (7)
Score: 108–16 (max 113)

Another niner for Adam and yet another century. Well done, that man."

Yeah, I had it in my flat just now. I won.

(Srsly tho, Co:Lon 2011 is kinda dependent on wtf happens with CF's finals, since we don't really know where we'll be living or anything like that.)
