[*** Update On Co-Blackpool 2020 ***
Friday 11th September 2020 15:35pm
After the Government announced the changes to a maximum of groups of 30 down to groups of 6, I have had no option to cancel this event now until 2021 date to announced, I have done everything within my power to keep this event going but mainly down to the fact that we change tables etc in each round was the main thing that we cannot go ahead, tables of 3 would have been fine with social distancing but everyone would have had to remain on the same table. We also have some of the council workers who use our pub so we could not have gotten around this. Also all players from lockdown areas would not be allowed to take part on the day and also with news that things are getting worse then I think it is now the sensible decision to cancel this on our Fylde Borough council’s advice (Not Blackpool’s Council) as the anonymous person had apparently spoken to about the event going ahead.
So on our Councils decision CO Blackpool 2020 is cancelled.....
Players have the option to stay entered for next year at Β£5 when it is rearranged to a new date or have a refund now, next year entry will be back to Β£10 (so save yourself a fiver by leaving it in for next year.
A new date will arranged when we are 100% that it can go ahead without any problems i.e. Covid etc

Anthony, I'm surprised your in for this Co-event! For whatever reason I had been told that you wouldn't be attending co-events for a while.

Jason, I think I may have said that after London last year, as I got lost and became fed up, but in the end I decided I'd just go to the ones near me. Blackpool is only an hour's drive, so I can cope with that one. There are a few more I've been to before, such as Lincoln that I can still go to as well.

I'm sorry Anthony. Hazel Drury must have confused me when I thought she said you had stopped going to Co-events altogether. Now I understand you.

Now, James Robinson, he could go to any Co-event anywhere!

Yep it's the one about 10 mins walk from the venue. Should have been about Β£85 but I had vouchers from other cancelled bookings (so feels cheap).

The thread title isn't true anymore.
The event isn't cancelled... it will go ahead and be a great day for everyone lucky enough to attend.

Probably a good idea to change it, to avoid any confusion.

I can agree it's organised and would like to think it is a sport (so I can fulfill exercise quotas), but team?
