'Ey up.

After a very successful maiden event last year, Co:Leeds is back… and this time it’s psoralen.

The second edition of Leeds’ favourite* anagrams-and-arithmetic tournament will take place on Saturday 1st April, 2017. It’s gonna be proper dench. First, the key details:

When?

Saturday 1st April 2017. Doors open at 10am, the 'action' kicks off at 10.45am (see 'Itinerary below for more info).

Where?

Leeds. The Cardigan Centre (see 'Venue' below for more info).

'ow much?

Tenner. Payable to Callum Todd at http://www.paypal.me/CallumTodd. If the standard method of PayPal doesn't suit you, please get in touch with me to arrange an alternate payment method.

any scran?

Tea, coffee, water, and fruit juice will be available free of charge. I'll try put on a few cakes and snacks and whatnot too. (see 'Food' section below for more info).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now the more detailed info:
Format
The format is the same as last year, modelled on Lincoln. That means three rounds of play, with 9 Rounder games being played on tables of three players.
Venue
Our venue this year will be the fantastic Cardigan Centre on Cardigan Road, Headingley. This is just half a mile round the corner from the ITV Yorkshire building that originally hosted some TV game show that I think was loosely based on Co:Leeds.
We'll be in the 'Hall' room on the ground floor. The venue is completely wheelchair accessible.
Travel
A taxi from a city centre hotel or from Leeds station would cost around £8-12, so not too expensive if you share with a couple of other people.
The venue is just a short walk round the corner from Burley Park station, which you can get to from Leeds.
Information on getting there by bus can be found here
For drivers, there is a very small car park on site but it only has a few spaces so don't count on getting one. Street parking nearby is mostly unrestricted though so you should be able to find a spot.
Accommodation
I believe the city centre hotels of choice last year were the Vicar Lane Travelodge and the Ibis Budget. There's also a Premier Inn and Holiday Inn Express on Kirkstall Road just round the corner. Alternately there's plenty of nice small hotels and BnBs in Headingley.
Food
The venue is a community centre and does not serve food. If you're looking for the pengest munch during the lunchbreak though, there's a few little cafes on Cardigan Road you could go to, and a Subway and a fish shop too.
Itinerary
10:00 am – Doors open
10:30 – Event precursory waffle
10:45 – Draw is made for Round 1
11:00 – Round 1 – let the games begin
12:30pm – Lunch break
1:30 – Round 2
3:00 – Round 3
From here on, it gets a bit murky. Depending on time still available to us, many options are open to us, including a fourth round if there's enough time, or a quarter- or semi-finals if not, or just a final if there's not time for any of that. Stay tuned for further details but for now rest assured there will definitely be a Final, a Prizegiving, and the room is booked until 7pm so whatever happens won't go on any longer than that.
Spot prizes
As with the 2016 event there will be all sorts of shit prizes available for all sorts of shit things, meaning everyone has a chance to go home with something, regardless of points-scoring and game-winning.
Programmes
Matchday programmes were a success in 2016, so they're back for 2017. And this time they're bigger and better. As before, all proceeds will go to funding FOCAL. Get your programmes..
And that's it
If you have any questions, please get in touch. Otherwise, I hope to see you in Leeds in April. Ta-ra.
Anagram of personal, and some chemical. Back when I was an edgy 15 year old with an active tumblr blog I used to tag my personal posts as #psoralen and had to stop when I got a message from some scientist telling me to stop spamming the psoralen tag.
