Countdown in Manchester - 11th March 2017
Posted: Sun Oct 30, 2016 2:32 pm
Hi everyone! We're very happy to announce that 2017 will bring the first ever Countdown in Manchester, hosted by Series 66 champion Jack Worsley, and Series 73 non-champion Matty Artell.
The games will take the familiar Lincoln format. In each round, each player will play two games and host one, for three rounds (lunch will be after round one), followed by the final between the two top players which will play out as the tournament showpiece.
The venue, Kro Bar, is conveniently located at the University of Manchester campus on Oxford Road, just a short walk or bus ride from either Oxford Road or Piccadilly station (Bus routes 41/42/43/142/143 from Piccadilly Gardens or any stop along Oxford Road will take you right outside the venue). For those of you driving to the event, a NCP is located a 5 minute walk away at the aquatic centre (more creative folk will be able to find alternatives if you don't fancy taking out a mortgage to pay for parking). There are plenty of accommodation options around Manchester - the nearest (and probably the Standard Method™) hotel is the Upper Brook Street Travelodge, just a 10 minute walk from the venue.
A buffet lunch is included in the entry fee (please advise of any dietary requirements and we'll let the venue know). The event takes place on Saturday 11th March - doors will be 10:30am. The day will start with the first round draw at 11:30am, concluding by 7pm at the latest.
Entry will be £12 per person, which includes a buffet lunch, payable to Matty Artell - http://paypal.me/MattyArtell (4/3/17 note - from this point forward, please message either myself or Jack to confirm we have space before sending payment). Please feel free to get in touch with either Jack or myself with any queries, and we hope to see as many of you as possible on the day!
Because I'm very slow at updating this, the best way to keep up to date with entries and changes is through the Facebook event - https://www.facebook.com/events/1696417874008660/
