COHUD 2016 - Countdown In Huddersfield - Saturday 8th October 2016

Post by James Robinson »

IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!! ;) :) :D :mrgreen: 8-)

I'm back with yet another edition of Countdown In Huddersfield (COHUD), but with my regular co-host Jeff Clayton on paternity leave, I've recruited from CoLeeds, the hosting capabilities of Callum Todd for this event in a show of West Yorkshire unity. :idea: 8-)

We are heading back to Huddersfield once again, and as we have been since 2014, we'll be using PPG Canalside, the Huddersfield Town A.F.C. training complex just up the Leeds Road from the stadium, at HD2 1YJ. It is a fully modern, up-to-date facility and ready to cope with the hustle and bustle of a CO-event. (For a look yourselves, go here: http://www.canalsidesports.com)

Presented by James Robinson and Callum Todd, using the "Bristol" classroom format and playing along with big screen virtual studio graphics:

- Guaranteeing a minimum of 8 games for every contestant.
- The format will be 10 round games (LLNLLNLLNC) in 1/0 format, followed by a final phase of 9R QF and SF which will eventually lead to the 14R grand final.
- The grand final in Group A plays out as the tournament showpiece.

The heats will use 1/0 scoring, so there's a possible "ten out of ten" to aim for in every match. For winning a match you'll score two points, and it's one point apiece for a draw (so no tie-breakers!). This will give us a winner in each group, and then a statistical overall winner, taking account of overall scores and goal difference.

COHUD 2016 will take place on Saturday 8 October -- doors open at 9am for a prompt 10am start, finishing at 6pm. The admission price is set at £15 and includes a hot buffet lunch. The cash bar will be available too.

As per usual, payments are available:
- By PayPal (james_r_robinson@hotmail.com);
- By phone (07817 750 544);
- By cheque (address available on request).

We look forward to having you join us up in West Yorkshire!!! ;) :) :D :mrgreen: 8-) :geek: :ugeek:

Buongiorno from Italy. :)

It's been a while since I last updated on here, but COHUD is now up to 15 attendees thanks to the inclusion of our back-to-back defending champion, Jack Worsley.

Just 23 days to go now :!: :!:

I was just looking at trains to this - in my neck of the woods there's replacement buses all weekend and it's all looking rather shit. It looks like the trip would be virtually impossible. What is the normal thing for people to do - do they get the train to Mirfield and change?

You can do, but Leeds and change is much more straightforward....

Despite the withdrawal of Lucy Westwood, we have still broken Countdown in Huddersfield records, and with one day to go before the close of entry, we have THIRTY-FIVE (YES, 35) entrants to this year's tournament. ;) :) :D 8-)

WELL, WE'RE ALL FINISHED IN TERMS OF ACCEPTING ENTRIES!!

And I'm delighted to say we have 36 (YES, THIRTY-SIX) entries for our event thanks to our late entry from Andy Platt.

And now that Jason has also arrived in the UK, we're now all ready to begin what should be a fantastic tournament. ;) :) :D :mrgreen: 8-)
