Post by Mark Murray »

I am delighted to announce...............
THE RETURN of Co-Bristol! Yes a Bristol Co event!!

Bristol County Sports Club
40 Colston St, Bristol, Avon BS1 5AE
http://www.bristolcountysportsclub.co.uk
Location on Google Maps: http://tinyurl.com/ksaw8ss

Presented by Mark Murray and Jeff Clayton, everybody competes in six games, in the traditional classroom setup:

- Three heats matches using the current 15-round format -- opponents drawn at random;
- Then split into groups of eight for the latter stages:
- 9-round quarter final (#1 plays #8, #2 plays #7 etc);
- 9-round semi final;
- 14-round final.
- The grand final in Group A plays out as the tournament showpiece.

Doors open at 9am for a 10am start, with free tea & coffee available on arrival.

A buffet lunch will be provided at 12:30pm and light refreshments will be on sale from the bar throughout the day. (Please advise of dietary requirements, where necessary.)

The grand final starts at or just after 5pm, and we conclude with the prizegiving by 6pm -- prizes will be on offer for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in every group.

Admission costs just £15pp and you can secure your place now:
- By PayPal (jeffrey_clayton@hotmail.com / markmurray97@hotmail.com)
- By phone (Jeff: 07595 690 249 / Mark: 07527 907065);
- By cheque (address available on request).

We have capacity for 40 contestants; spectators are also welcome.

-----

The Club is in a prime city centre location:

- If you're travelling by train, get off at Temple Meads and high frequency bus routes 8 & 9 (up to every six minutes combined) depart from the station forecourt. These will drop you off at the Hippodrome just a short walk from the venue.
- If you're coming by car, you can avoid the cost of city centre parking with the Park & Ride buses from A4 Bath Road, A4 Portway and Long Ashton -- please check http://www.travelwest.info/parkandride for details including times of last buses back to the car park.

Accommodation: the following are prices researched for 28 February 2015 for a double room as at 28 September 2014, in hotels around the centre of Bristol:

- Travelodge Anchor Road: saver rate (non refundable) £35, flexible (refundable) £58 - hotel parking £7.50 for 24 hours.
- Hotel Mercure: £69 for 27 Feb, £83 for 28 Feb (on-street parking can cost approx £4; secured NCP £15/24hrs).

- Premier Inn: Double room £90 (no onsite parking)
- Novotel, Holiday Inn £109.

Will also look at getting a table near at a restaurant near the venue after the event if enough people are interested!!

Happy to field any questions, and if you need any help with planning your journey or your stay, send me a PM!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

:)

Thats a shame James..if it is a success there might be more in the future..we'll see..

I have updated the thread with people now confirmed as going. There is a lot of interest in this event, which is brilliant, and so once people know they can commit to it, please send the £15 to ensure your place :)

With just over 7 weeks to go, we have 20 people signed up to Co Bris which is a great number. There are still a maximum of 20 more places left. The cut off date by which I will need final payments is February 10th as I will need to budget and let venue know of final numbers. If you are coming to this, please pay the £15 by this date.
