Yum graphs graphs graphs. Mmm. Thanks Charlie. Anyway: does the rating graph have all three ratings in it, now? Cause I've got what looks like three different lines going on after the Great Ratings Shift. (Maybe we could do the different ratings in different colors! Ooh.) On the maximums graphs, are...

Re: Apterous Summer Open

What Charlie says is true about time averaging. What I'm worried about are people near the line who tend to go back and forth a lot; I don't want them trying to throw games to get under. (Edit: Not that I believe anybody really would, but it's the principle of the thing.) I'll use peak rating instea...

Although I agree with Ben above that a semi-regular bunch of tournaments with striated flights would serve the purpose just as well, probably. (Unlike Ben, I'm willing to throw my hat in the ring to help organize such a thing.) Let's see whether people want ratings-restricted tournaments, shall we ?

Apterous Summer Open

As we were getting the league trials set up, there was some indication that some people would prefer one-off rating-restricted tournaments. With that in mind, I'll put myself forward to organize such an event. The Event: The 2009 apterous Summer Open, U1200, U1000, and U800 When: Starting the first ...

Well, football wasn't strictly necessary to my analogy -- this is true of just about any point-based game, so far as I can tell. The only real difference about this game, I suppose, is that you can't score one-point-at-a-time; but that doesn't change the real difference (I feel) of losing by a hair ...

At least on my system here, "100" shows as "1.." in the tiles (at least the first time -- the second time, the tiles are wider and the whole thing fits). Probably not a huge deal for normal games, although I hear that hyper has more than one 3-digit number. I haven't seemed to be...
