Re: Most prestigious non-televised tournaments
A slightly different question. Which would hurt more: 1) Not winning a TV series for which you are favourite. 2) Not winning a big co event for which you are favourite. I think pretty much everybody would agree 1 would hurt way more. I think that probably is enough to convince me to change my first...

Also using Anki - got things set so that the total words to revise a day stays within a given range, which works out as 7 9-letter and 20 other new words a day. Been doing it for about a year now, which shows up perfectly on the letters graph here: https://www.apterous.org/superstats_user.php?user=1...

I also think the same about "phishing" when really it's just a wicked internet version of "fishing" and you get the BBC and Oxford dictionaries just acting like it's a normal word. It's a perfectly useful technical term that's a lot quicker than "fishing for people's person...

Just looked through to see what would happen if the scores were added instead. Mavem would be 4th last, only beating those who had no top half results at all. Why is it when its 30C in the UK i find it unbearable, but when i am abroad i am fine with it? Largely the humidity I think - even 40C in low humidity can feel better than 30C in typical UK levels. My assessment of the curve was bollocks, a lot more defeats for multiple winners than I'd anticipated. The equation relating wins (x) and proportion winning 8 (y) is close to: y = 0.009x^2 + 0.0475x + 0.0601 So there you go. Or, including 0 gives a better (closer to actual data) intercept. This cur...

It does still massively depend on what selections come up. Sam C-L was a very similar standard to Luke B, but only had 1045 points available. Luke B had 1025 available just from his first 7 games. And that's not obviously due to particular picking skill - most 9s have come from a fairly obvious 4 vo...
