I'd probably have preferred 6 small, in fairness as I'm more likely to solve a 6 small than a 3 large :p

Re: Spoilers for Friday 17th May 2019 (Series 80, Prelim 83)

Well, I guess most people felt sorry for John, as I did - until he picked 3 large in the penultimate round. What was he playing at? OK, I appreciate he almost certainly didn't know the record was in reach, but it must have been obvious that Elliot was on for a fantastic score. Why potentially make ...

Re: Spoilers for Wednesday 15th May 2019

What's this nonsense with the fake going high on the 4-large? If you're doing e.g. 75×50/25, you don't start with 75×50. Poor form. If I've got this right, 75x50=3750 3750/25=150 is poor form, when you could say 75/25=3 3x50=150. But 75/25=3 3x50=150 when you could say 100+50=150 is OK? If you're s...

Jeanne Calment (122 years, 164 days) is 2.67% older than Sarah Knauss (119 years, 97 days). For those claiming this to be "too much an outlier" - do you also believe that Mount Everest isn't actually 8848m? Mount Everest (8,848m) is 2.75% taller than K2 (8,611m). There's loads of sets of ...

Re: Spoilers for Wednesday 2 January 2019 (COC XV, game 1)

Absolutely stunning performance from Wynn there, hardly putting a foot wrong and not being too far from a max. Commiserations to Phil though, who also produced a very respectable performance.

((5*5-2)*9+1)*4 for 832, not that it really matters though.

Re: Spoilers for Friday 21st December 2018 (Series 79, Grand Final)

Terrific final today. Both were worthy finalists and it was a cracking game to watch. Well done to Mike, a consistent player and held his never under pressure well. Also Martin, who fought so valiantly throughout the series and indeed overall was the higher average scorer. Both worthy accolades and ...

One of the best games I've seen in a good while, best of the series for sure.

Special mention to the solve of HALOGENIC - a tremendous solve in the studio and shows Mike is a real threat for the final.

Re: Spoilers for Thursday 13th December 2018 (Series 79, QF 1)

Martin was on very fine form today, did think that was his best showing so far. Commiserations to Bob, who did do a very good job today I thought it was a very good game too by both players. But as for Martin's best game? Well, being picky I thought that 983 was pretty gettable to be honest! Aye, h...

A bit slow in watching so only just seen this. Just wanted to add that this was one of the most thrilling games I've watched in a while - great sportsmanship and a really back and forth game. Made it very exciting.

Re: Things normal people normally own but you don't own for some reason

I have never owned an umbrella. An umbrella is a device which deflects rain coming only from directly above you. This, together with its tendency to flip inside out and/or act as a sail, makes it largely useless in even a moderate wind. (Funnily enough, wind and rain often go together.) Even when i...
