Re: Countdown in Leicester (CoLei) - Saturday 30 August 2008
Jeff's emailed me, as I've paid up and, at the moment there's just five of us confirmed but more have expressed an interest. Would have thought we need at least 12-15 to make it a worthwhile day, though.

Re: Countdown Chiefs plan 'reality show'
The rumour probably originated from some lazy hack browsing this forum anyway :) Let's start a new one! ;) I submitted this post a couple of weeks ago... Just read this on bbc news what a surprise (to me at least). Perhaps they can have a new reality TV show on C4 as budding mathematics students ba...

Re: Today's Countdown News... see link
The heat seems to be even more intense this morning. Still on the front page of one of the tabloids, and this morning on FiveLive they interviewed Kathryn Apanowicz who gave a very strong pro-Carol argument and quoted some anon C4 exec as having said to her (Carol), "the show survived Richard d...

Just read this on bbc news :o what a surprise (to me at least). Perhaps they can have a new reality TV show on C4 as budding mathematics students battle it out to become Clive Bremner-Edmonds' new assistant :D Here's a link if anyone wants it... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7526290.stm I...

Re: Today's Countdown News... see link
On a tangent, has anyone seen Des Lynam on Sport Mastermind? He looks like he's aged 10 years in 5 minutes and is a desperately unconvincing host - and I'll bet that's filmed in London, a lot less than 250 miles from home :D Given that the show's surviving happily with a new host every two years or ...

Re: COUNTDOWN IN LEICESTER (CoLei) - SATURDAY 30 AUGUST 2008
Hi Jeff, I'm planning to attend COLEI. I've only been to a couple of COLIN's before and none for a couple of years, but can either get the train to Leicester or come over with the family (we lived in Leicester from 1992 to 2003 and can meet up with friends). Looking forward to it.

Re: COOT prelim game 2 Howard vs Rich
Hang on a sec! I've just posted in the Coates v Green match that there were no "O"'s selected in the eleven games, and there's none in the eleven rounds here. Summat's up! Comp name needs to be changed from COOT to CEET or CAAT!

Re: COOT Prelim game 3 - Matt Coates V Matt Green
Good game - I've enjoyed playing that over my lunch break. One statistical oddity from the selection: 40 vowels chosen in the eleven rounds - not one "0"

... and I don't see any punny or cryptic link to bouncy castles. Am I missing something? Yes :) Keeps = castles for Charlie's benefit :) I love doing crosswords, but never get enough time these days to really get my teeth into one. One of my favourite clues came from the Guardian some years ago: Wr...

Re: Spoilers for Thursday 12th June 2008
My last spoiler turned out to be a fail, but in the round where David got Diamines, I would have had a shot at MISNAMED. Its in the Shorter Oxford; no idea if in NODE or not.

Hello all. I'm Ross Allatt - I used to be slackdad38/39 etc on the Yahoo account. I couldn't access that from work so my contributions and appearances diminished latterly, but I'm delighted to say that I can get on here OK, so should be around a bit more. For those who don't know me, I was an Octoch...
