They probably didn't take it too srsly because they do (know their 75 x table). I thought they just didn't see that method. The challenger did 75 x 8 after all, and the champion must have used 75 a few times in his 16 numbers games so far. It did seem a strange thing to say though.

Maybe it goes by the seeding of the match Philip won, ie seed 2 v seed 7, being higher than the seeding of the match Dougie won, which was either 3 v 6 or 4 v 5. My way to 583, which I did with it on pause (lol) was (50 - 3) x (6 + 7) - 25 - 3
and to 189: (50 - (25 x 3 / 75)) x 4 - 7 and
75 x 3 - 25 - 7 - 4, which uses less numbers and doesn't need any brackets so it must be better!

And six smalls...
(Actually I don't mind six smalls, but are difficult rounds always a bad thing?)

Re: Spoilers for Tuesday 16th January 2018 (Series 78, Prelim 6)
I took a while seeing 811 but then seeing Rachel and Glen both had it early on told me there was probably a straight forward way, so then I saw it.
I didn't think of 111 x 8 myself for 888 but saw 100 x 3 x (4-1) - 7 - 5 straight away so didn't need to. 483 was just too convenient for a gamble!

Jacob must win the dubious prize of taking the longest ever time between buzzing and actually saying what he thought the answer to the conundrum was!

The day I get a 9 I'm too early for it (gloopiest) - just typing it here I see my phone even knows it!
Anyway then I get vaguism and it doesn't look like I can have that either, even though I'm often guilty of it. Hmmmm.

Lentil was there too.Gavin Chipper wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2017 6:34 pmAlso in that round was ENTAIL for six. Worth mentioning because DC seemed to go for desperate measures in getting a six by getting a very obscure word (can't remember what it was).Bradley Horrocks wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2017 2:42 pm TELLINA as a less significant beater in same round

Re: Spoilers for Tuesday 28th November 2017
So was 539 but after 30 secs: (4 + 1) x (9 + 3) x 9 - 1.
In the first numbers if Bradley had swapped the 5 x 2 with the 10 then multiplying by the 2 would have been near the end and I'd say he would have seen the 1 could be added first.

I thought it was funny Peter doing that too,
It had to be as a joke, right?

Re: Spoilers for Wednesday 15 November 2017 (S77, P96)
Thought the game was ok today. I had reupload and uploader in one of the rounds but I see neither are in. Bit surprised about reupload tbh. It's obviously a word. Last numbers I did, rather bizarrely: (6 x 5 - 100 / 50) x 10 + 1 = 281 Am in the same boat with the numbers Philip, except I saw it jus...

PEDIFORM R5 Lovely gesture by Graham on the conundrum, if anyone saw. What did he do specifically? I noticed this too - Mike shouted out the answer before buzzing and instead of Graeme buzzing himself and stealing it, he let Mike buzz properly and take the points. Would be interesting to know what ...

Not exactly in 'the' news but on "Have I Got News For You" Mark Nyman just got a mention. It was in relation to Scrabble rather than Countdown.
