Re: Spoilers For Tuesday February 9th 2010
Clive:"Possibly the mark of a factoriser, which I admit to being." I don't understand this. The target was 767, which is close to 770. Factorising gives 7x11x10, which is easily obtainable, keeping the 2 and 1 by to subtract afterwards. I did it Matt's more intuitive way. The 770 route lo...

I've been having trouble with hyper conundrums, similarly to Julie's problem above. Whether in the last round of a Hyper15 or a single hyper conundrum both players are getting "waiting for opponent" but nothing appears. I was playing Norm and he said a similar thing happened when he recent...

Re: Bug reports
In the numbers games, you will be awarded a max when you are within 5, if the closest possible is within 5. However, if your opponent declares the exact target, then you are not awarded that maximum. Here's an example. If you are within 5 and the closest possible is within 5 but closer than you, yo...

On another topic, is there a place that the latest dictionary file that apterous uses is kept? The one I use for my own ends seems out of date. The latest one I have is this one , but it's probably around due for an update (Kirk's been busy lately in the errors thread). Thanks Jim, that's cool. I t...

I wonder how many 9's there are with just 2 vowels? Approx 1910 I believe. Impressive if you knew that off the top of your head. Apterous makes it 1,922. A further 25 have only 1 vowel:- Surely Scary rather than Impressive that I knew that off the top of my head. On another topic, is there a place ...

Re: Most Improved Player
As a lesser player, though always reasonably good on the numbers, I started on here getting about 5 maxes per game and now after 1000 games I get around 7. As a % increase in maxes spotted I expect this compares with Chris. If I had Superstats I imagine it would show improvements over time (and not...

Not sure if this counts as a bug or not but this  http://www.apterous.org/viewgame.php?game=171460 shouldn't be allowed on an active duel. Yes it should. Re: Bug reports
There's a problem with Hyper numbers. When you enter your declaration and the clock runs down, it hangs and doesn't ask you to input your solution, sometimes never at all and other times it takes 4 or 5 minutes to kick into that phase of play. I've had to quit a few games as i've waited for ages an...

Re: Bug reports
In Touchdown and Hypertouch numbers are picked with replacement. So you could very well get a selection like 150,150,9,8,8,8,8,3D Eadie wrote: Also, not sure if this is meant to happen or not, but last night i got a game where i picked 2 large in Hyper and the 150 came out twice.

Some possibilities: You could exclude games that are only self-nominated. Self-nomination is a good way to bring a notable game to others attention but if no-one else is impressed enough to nominate it then obviously it is not as exciting as was thought. Perhaps when nominating a game people should ...

Div B: Niall Seymour 90 - 178 Matthew Tassier
Niall miscalculated in a couple of the early rounds, which seemed to put him off rather for a while. This did allow me to post a good goal difference in the battle for second place.

Hi, I'm Matthew Tassier and I've been a Countdown fan ever since my excitement at the upcoming televisual extravaganza that was going to be the launch of a fourth television channel became bemusement when a couple of adults started playing spelling and adding up games. Since becoming self-employed a...
