Ratings

As a relative newbie to the world of Apterous, I'd appreciate some answers to questions I have on the Ratings system. I've seen the sticky thread "How Ratings work" (http://www.c4countdown.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1050) but couldn't quite work things out from there, and searched the ...

Re: Series 80 Player Analysis and Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers Inside!)

This was a great thread in Series 80! - some really interesting stats. Now that we're up to 6 Octochamps already in Series 81, with a couple of really good new ones in the last few weeks, it would be good to have something similar this time if you're able to do it again Tom...?

Yes, good stuff from Andy - at 79% the highest score compared to max that we've seen since Corrina was on. After that first showing I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up becoming octochamp no 5... :)

Re: Spoilers for Wednesday 7th August 2019 (Series 81, Prelim 27)

So there have now been 4 octochamps, with only just over 1/3 of the series heats broadcast so far. I'd say it's looking increasingly likely now for more than 8 octochamps for the first time. So I'd be fearful for Corrina to make the finals with quite a low score - although that might mean she at lea...

Re: Word validity questions

Coming back to this thread, I noticed that GOUTIER was disallowed in a show last week, although it appears to be ok on Apterous? Is this just a case of the Oxford Dictionary having been updated recently and changes not made it onto Apterous yet? Or just Susie disagreeing with the Apterous interpreta...

Re: Spoilers for Wednesday 7th August 2019 (Series 81, Prelim 27)

3 Octochamps in the first 6 weeks of the series! If this rate carries on, I wonder if we could see more than 8 Octochamps in total - would this be the first series it has ever happened in? If this happens, then I presume it's just tough luck to any Octochamps who don't make the top 8 - so they would...

Re: Word validity questions

Thanks Ray, that's really helpful - especially about the show using the Premium version (which I can access for free using my local library membership :) ) which I can see contains a lot more info on extensions of some words, and answers some of the other things I was wondering about.

Word validity questions

Hi all Yes I know there is a sticky thread from several years ago called "How do I know my word is valid" which I've read, but I have a few questions about comparing word validity between Apterous and the TV show, which I'd be interested if any of the crowd on here can answer. I presume th...

That's brilliant - thank you so much! Much easier than trying to work out how to do it via a recordable DVD player or USB dongles etc. Just got to actually get on the show now :)

Re: Recording Countdown to keep

Thanks, but it doesn't seem to be very easy to even buy a DVD recorder these days - they seem to have gone out of fashion in these times of streaming and Sky boxes etc. Any ideas or suggestions anyone?! - thanks.

Recording Countdown to keep

Hi all Technology question. When appearing on Countdown hopefully later this year, I'm wondering how it will be possible to record my episode(s) to keep for posterity (personal home use only, not trying to infringe any copyrights etc :) ). In the old days you could just record to VHS, but there does...
