Re: Wednesday, 20th February, Spoilers

Carol should have spotted QUINOA- she preaches it in her book. Plus UNTOLD in the same round.

Re: Who would you like to see in DC?

I do like the idea of former contestants in DC but it would only really appeal to a small number of people- namely the geeks who are signed up to this forum.

If David Mitchell doesn't come off then Jeff Stelling would be VERY good.

Spoilers For Tuesday 5th February 2008

Not a winner, but is PEASECOD vaild?

Incidentally, thats now 2 contestants this series I would gladly sleep with, probably more than in the other 57 series put together.

Re: Welcome!

Hello, I'm Julian, series 48 champion, 23 years old now. In terms of online Countdown, I'm doing a 'Bjorn Borg', returning after a very long time out of the loop. I hope my own comeback will be a bit more successful... Funnily enough, I thought of Borg before coming up with Cruyff in that sports st...

Re: If Countdowners were sports stars...

I dont think Paul Gallen had the flair to be compared to Brazil, he always looked pretty miserable to me. Instead: Paul Gallen: West Germany 1990 Ruthlessly efficient in the group stages until a last gasp winner (Colombia last minute equaliser/Defeat to MT) prevented a 100% record. Picked up when it...

Re: Richard Digance

The only one I can think of is Victor Ubogu . Although Ron Atkinson is a funny shade of red, does that count? Ron Atkinson is what is known in some schools as a thick, lazy f###ing beetroot. I've not got anything against beetroot mind, in fact I was the first person to export beetroot to this count...

If Countdowners were sports stars...

Craig Beevers: Stephen Hendry The unassuming northerner was formidable in all areas and had an eye for the spectacular (split-second conundrums/147 breaks). Not as popular or charismatic as the overhyped cockney that he prevented from becoming the 'peoples champion' but widely regarded as one of, i...

Definately need some new faces though. How about: Derren Brown Richard Madeley Martin Kemp Billy Connoly David Mitchell- my ideal choice Ade Edmonson or Rik Mayall Julie Walters Zoe Wannamaker Don't ask me to explain these choices, it is difficult trying to simultaneously appeal to pensioners and st...

Re: Versus Par

Surely the opponent also comes into play as well? In over 12 years watching countdown, Hazel was by some distance the worst player I've ever seen on the show allowing David to score in every round. Someone half-decent might at least have taken one round off him like the lady who got ESPECIAL. I reme...

Re: Spoilers for Friday 1st February 2008

Well played again David, are you on course for a record total score now? The last 3 have been big scores and with a decent triple in the finals surely you could get something special? For the record, James is not the only one who scores himself against the champion everyday, I do it too but it's nev...

I did feel a teeny bit sorry for her but, given the selection, DIME is one of the most appalling words Ive ever seen on the show.

How would Susie fare as a contestant?

Do you reckon series champion or mere QFinalist? I remember she couldnt get some of the teatime teasers (unless she was just saying it to make me feel better) that were very easy and she seems very impressed when people get a good numbers solution so it'd be interesting to see her in the chair. On t...

Re: Des - Hearing Difficulties

Given his age I think its fair enough but I do think he is a bit slow at anticipating an accent. Craig Beevers accent is not particularly strong but DesO kept asking him to re-pronounce words that could easily have been understood if he had thought about it. I think Craig go MOANED and Des asked 'Mu...

Re: Spoilers for Friday 25th January 2008

Well done here David, cant believe that COTTAGERS came up. I had it down as my favourite word on my application sheet as its a derogatory word we use for one of my friends who once disappeared into a public toilet for an unusual length of time... Just before I went on the show, I said to my mates th...
