Re: Spoilers for Tuesday 20th Jan 2009 (CoC Heat 6)

Also, as for the conundrum, that was spot of the game for me. I (sadly) clapped out loud at home. I'd never heard of the word and was such an awesome spot. However, upon checking in the dictionary, I couldn't find it! It's only listed as FETTUCCINE. However, it's listed in Countmax so I assume it's...

Extending the question to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland separately would be interesting too.
Answers here, please, as I'm not sure of best answers beyond England.

British geography

The "US States" topic prompts me to celebrate my 100th posting by asking a similar question about Britain - the eastern one is easy, but for the others it'll be necessary to find answers for (a) England (b) Great Britain (c) the United Kingdom (d) the British Isles. Pedants may start hares...

I can see a possible problem with mutual checking.
Suppose the word declared is GOITRE, and one (or both) contestants write down GOITER, but one spells it correctly when Susy asks. What should they say when asked to check?

Tip 2. For more difficult targets Carol often used to give solutions found by finding a factor. So in this case she might say that 639 = 9x71, and try to make 71 out of 100 6 5 1. In this case you're OK, but I'd advise strongly against this method. If you can't make 71, the best you can hope for is...
