Re: Unpopular opinions you genuinely hold

Bond could have instead murdered her - sorry killed with his licence to kill - and it would have been fine of course. My point is not about the morality of the actions in the film, but about depicting rape as a pleasant comical form of seduction. And even by mid 60s moral/legal standards, these are...

Don't get me started on Pepe Le Pue Also Bladerunner but as she is a replicant maybe she don't count Pepe le Pew is a caricature on predatory behaviour The Blade Runner scene is made in a way to make the viewer uncomfortable and be perfectly aware it's fucked up. Goldfinger & Thunderball, probably the two most successful Bond films, should be banned for glorifying rape. (And I don't mean just the general Bond misogynistic rape culture, I mean outright rape). By banned I don't mean making it illegal to view, only that no streaming service / tv channel sh...

National level proportionality is hard to achieve without doing away with candidate-based voting. Democracy shouldn't just be about party brands. A compromise would be to have larger constituencies with five or six MPs to elect using a system like STV, which achieves PR without requiring candidates...

I wonder about the logic behind the UK system though, I'm all for a parliamentary system where parliament elects the head of government. But what's the point of the constituencies? How is it fair that a party get 43% of votes but 56% MP seats, or 12% of the votes and only 1.7% of the MPs? I get the ...

Watching them today, Curb is probably funnier than Seinfeld. But that's mostly affected by time. Seinfeld (the show) is 35 years old, at its time it was more groundbreaking and funnier than its contemporaries. Also today I find it funny as hell, especially considering it was on public tv (no swearin...

I don't think the term antisemitism is a problem. It is literally inaccurate, but it has taken the known meaning of racism against Jews.
