Not sure I'd put money on it, but I think it's doable providing that the people who might be classed as being able to do it get lucky with a run of high maxes and opponents who don't nick the con off them etc. Though it must be said that there was probably no more than a handful of people who are go...

Possibly not, or at least not without some fairly unlikely circumstances. For a non apterite to win a series they'd have to either be in a very weak series or have some efficient training mechanism that wasn't apterous (eg Julian Fell studied the dictionary and used the handheld Countdown game). Excellent performance by Tom, one of the best I've ever seen certainly for the first 13 rounds.

I think if he'd got an A or I for the 8th letter he would have done. I agree about SOLARIZED too.

Also, r13 is probably the most welcome an errant Q has ever been for Stephen, since the only way for Annie to win was to beat Stephen with a 9, the nums and 2 conundrums.

PENITUDE as well in that round. Had AGONALS too as a beater.
Interesting decision not to gamble on the last nums by Lawrie...even if you aren't a strong numbers player it's surely in your best interests to gamble. Was surprised they both didn't get 897 though, though it must be hard in the studio.

Wes's 6s may well prove tough for Moose, who was prone to missing even easy 1l games, so if Wes can nail both his numbers with Moose messing them up then Moose will have a hill to climb. However, Moose's letters are stronger which does give him an obvious advantage considering there's a lot more let...

It's pretty impossible to please everyone though, what you might hate someone else might love. There's only a very small number of guests who I absolutely cannot stand, which are the ones who seem disinterested and/or are always "I got....(insert obscure word anyone who wasn't an obsessive Countdown...

EDICULAR as a beater in round 2, not sure if there was any other beaters available in rounds but I'd doubt it.
Ellen wasn't actually a bad contestant, it's a shame she was let down by her numbers.
