Re: Spoilers for Tuesday 27th June 2017 (Series 76, QF4)

Good game. I actually thought Annie was the stronger player anyway despite her lower seeding. Elliott bulked up his points score by getting all his conundrums, but I found him easier to beat than Annie during their runs. Also, I might have mentioned this before, but Elliott always picked three vowel...

Spoilers for Thursday 16th June 2017

A nice way of doing the last numbers was to multiply the two large numbers together first as the target was near to 625. So: 100*50/8-9+7 = 623. Or maybe even nicer: (100*50-9-7)/8 = 623. Rachel did 89*7 and pointed out that it's a product of two primes, but a product of two primes isn't worthy of a...

First of all, OMG spoilerz . But other than that, I'd agree with the way the poll is going that Stephen Read is the clear favourite. I'm not sure I'd agree that 2 to 7 are quite close though. I don't watch live and I fast forward most of the guests, but I'm not sure if that proportion would be any different in a different era. The most recent I didn't fast forward was Dan Walker. He's quite the raconteur.

875 = 50 × 7 × (8 − 6) × 5 ÷ 4 Maybe Rachel saw this late. Can't help thinking that multiplying by 2 and dividing by 4 is a sub-optimal solution. Maybe showboating? It was basically 50/2 × 35. If you're not showboating you'd divide by 2 first and never go above the target. Maybe she did see it late...
