Re: You Are The Ref

Fair point. I think you have to have made your decision on what word you're going to offer when you declare your length. I would prefer a situation where someone who had the ability to write down every combination of letters on their paper in 30 seconds couldn't draw every letters round that they d...

Re: Ask Graeme?

If I've understood the system correctly, Conor's ended up on the total of everyone's score going into the 30BC? Several of whom (including you) were unbeaten, which in turn means he scoops up several series worth of contestants. As I think an octochamp who goes on to win the series basically ends u...

100% Callum Todd. He fucked the system by cheating on Apterous to make his opponents think he was way better than he was, intidimidating them into underperforming just enough so that he could narrowly beat them as his true (still quite good) self.

FWIW I totally agree with Jono here. You go to Co-Events to play countdown, so may as well make it as much like the show as possible. I thought I'd share this here too since there has been discussion on how to adjudicate words: The chance of being able to declare a new word as a max is around 16%. The chance you can beat the old max (OED max) by playing a new word is around 7% http://www.c4countdown.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11488...

Why does 0!=1! Because it's a lot neater that way. One reason is that it means the rule: n! = (n+1)!/(n+1) works for all n >= 0. See also Numberphile . n! is the product of the first n natural numbers. From this, it makes sense to say 0! is the product of nothing, which is defined to be 1. This is ...
