Re: Spoilers for Wednesday 18th July 2018 (Series 79, Prelim 16)

Numbers wise you can't say that today...maybe yes yesterday but here it's not easy to spot the solutions. Shame on me I didn't get 114 in R14 and missed everything else except R6. :( I thought the numbers were tricky today but wasn't sure if I was having a bad day, lol. Eventually I found 114 as 8 ...

How come Philip was on the champion's chair when dougie is higher than him in seeding
Maybe it goes by the seeding of the match Philip won, ie seed 2 v seed 7, being higher than the seeding of the match Dougie won, which was either 3 v 6 or 4 v 5. But then that's just me guessing.

My way to 583, which I did with it on pause (lol) was (50 - 3) x (6 + 7) - 25 - 3
and to 189: (50 - (25 x 3 / 75)) x 4 - 7 and
75 x 3 - 25 - 7 - 4, which uses less numbers and doesn't need any brackets so it must be better!

I wish Rachel would be allowed to show the best result for impossible numbers games. I only had 951 doing 19 x 50 + 1, but I also got 960 going up high and dividing by 2.
Will miss Nina because of Nick always saying her name twice when she did her spot, thus impersonating a police car.

For me it was just because he managed to get a good lead over Paul, which I can't remember anyone else doing, then lost it.

535 is doable in the 540 6 small round via 107*5.
So was 539 but after 30 secs: (4 + 1) x (9 + 3) x 9 - 1.
In the first numbers if Bradley had swapped the 5 x 2 with the 10 then multiplying by the 2 would have been near the end and I'd say he would have seen the 1 could be added first.

Re: Spoilers for Wednesday 15 November 2017 (S77, P96)

Thought the game was ok today. I had reupload and uploader in one of the rounds but I see neither are in. Bit surprised about reupload tbh. It's obviously a word. Last numbers I did, rather bizarrely: (6 x 5 - 100 / 50) x 10 + 1 = 281 Am in the same boat with the numbers Philip, except I saw it jus...

PEDIFORM R5 Lovely gesture by Graham on the conundrum, if anyone saw. What did he do specifically? I noticed this too - Mike shouted out the answer before buzzing and instead of Graeme buzzing himself and stealing it, he let Mike buzz properly and take the points. Would be interesting to know what ...

Re: Countdowners in the news

Not exactly in 'the' news but on "Have I Got News For You" Mark Nyman just got a mention. It was in relation to Scrabble rather than Countdown.

Veronica in the last letters.
Had one away either side in the first numbers but well after time!
(100-10-5) x 8 - 4 = 676
(100-10-4) x 8 - 5 - 5 = 678

Does anyone have confirmation (e.g., via subtitles) of James' word in the LOTTERY/TOILETRY round? I heard it pretty clearly as LITTERS but it could have been LOITERS.
Just checked: Litters

Re: Spoilers for the 24th October 2017

3rd Numbers Reducing the Number of Numbers Alt.: (50 - 1) * (9 + 3 + 2) Same idea, but did 9 - 3 + 6 + 2 for the 14. I didn't want to reduce the number of numbers! Actually that's a lie, I didn't see your way! I had pompier - as in more pompy - I'm a Pompey supporter so I can, ha ha :-) Doesn't mat...

Re: Spoilers for Wednesday, 11th October 2017

I use Lexplorer, but you can only use it if you are a member on the site "Apterous". Alternatively,http://incoherency.co.uk/countdown/ is a quick one which I may use in the break but doesn't have the full dictionary, so you may type the word in and it won't come up on there, but could actually be i...

Certainly unlucky. A search for SEEDINGS in this forum reveals 207 matches.
Seedings must be the most used word to ever be disallowed on Countdown.

Re: Spoilers for Wednesday, 11th October 2017

What do you use to check your words when you play along? The site I thought we used either has the word, says there is no match, or just defaults to another (close) word. In the last case I never know if the word is valid or not.

BOUVIERS in R7 I think.
BRUNOISE too. Turns out I did in fact learn something from Bellodown.
Souvenir in that round too. (probably on wiki by now but I'm a few days behind, :-))

Re: Spoilers for Monday 2 October 2017 (Series 77, Prelim 64)

Little bit of inside info about this game... Jacob was a last minute stand-in player. Someone by the name of Emily (not Cox! ;)) got cold feet and pulled out on the day. So fair play to him for stepping up. When Jacob was being introduced he told us what he was going to be doing next week. I expect...
