Re: You Are The Ref
At a Co-event the conundrum is revealed and P1 buzzes in straight away to say "I think that the answer is <CORRECT ANSWER>". P2 protests that P1 stalled for 2 seconds or so to buy time to find the correct answer, and that P1 should have been timed out. You are the ref. (This is a PSA to sa...

Re: What is your preferred format for co-events?
You could take it further the other way and have letters like the numbers with players picking. 4 consonants and 3 vowels come up. And then the choosing player of the pair picks C or V. A consonant and vowel both come up. And then the same happens for the 9th letter. Are you suggesting that CCCCVVV...

I thought about the best possible selection and 25 50 75 100 9 8 2 7 10 5 has 14 impossible 4L games only, with every other selection/target combo solvable exactly.

There are several impossible targets with 100 75 50 25 1 1 2 2 3 3 as the selection such as 557, 896, 907.

I also think that the 6TB situation was unusual and would rather keep TBs the way things are for now. PODAGROUS, LOINCLOTH, HIFALUTIN, PREFATORY were from the harder choices in the file and DEODORANT not that easy either. Then CROCODILE from the easier section sorted the match out fine, and the conu...

CItizen Kane is certainly from an older tradition of filmmaking, but I'm intrigued why Jono finds it a tough watch. It has a pioneering investigative narrative that starts with Charles' death and the interviews and flashbacks build a picture of who he was. Plus the high-contrast deep focus visuals ...

I think a nice feature would be to able to see the standings after 2,4,6 etc games to see how the leaderboard changed throughout the day. Only the current leaderboard is displayed at the moment.

The Guardian in stars 27 and 30 of most paths plays at something like the standard of Apterous Prime, but can sometimes play a weaker game. Sometimes it decides to play like Rex and you have to live with that and accept your defeat! It's not meant to be straightforward and if you get too frustrated ...

I tend to sign up to events when I can book the transport (usually trains) and accommodation (if staying overnight) at the same time. Advance train tickets go on sale 2 months before event, so I'm not going to book before then unless it's a high demand event with limited space that is running out (L...

In Reading (Bristol Style) we tried one conundrum for each half of the room, with one half adjudicating while the other solved. I liked this and think this slight variation may be even better: 1.One conundrum for every fixture number 6 or lower, i.e. not in the first 10 places, conducted as usual wi...

Re: Co-Event Suggestion Box
I do prefer an 8 game Lincoln and actually think there's a fair bit of difference between 6 and 8 games. With 6, almost always one person wins 6 and you either need to be that person or carefully manage your scores to get 2nd with a 5-1 record. With 8, 7 wins are probably good enough for the final a...

On the earlier subject of conundrum mishaps a piece of blu-tack or tape on the back of them to attach them to the table will stop the worst of the mishaps. Also giving them pre-folded should mitigate the "answer is visible" issue. I've wondered too if FOCAL could get some cheap (donated) A...

I enjoyed this a lot, thank you Ben. I particularly liked how you could work out the harder rounds by interpolation.
