Really well done Adam, a fantastic run and you made it seem virtually effortless, while also remaining modest and down-to-earth about it all. Thoroughly enjoyable to watch. Jonathan Maitland was pretty good too I thought, he seemed to show genuine interest and insight into the words rather than just...

Hmm so finishing 1st rewards you with playing another 1st placed player? Had I have known I'd have finished bottom in my group. I don't get it. If I'm understanding it right you need to be in the top pool to win overall, if you'd come last in your prelim group your best possible overall result woul...

Innis 119-101 Kirk
Both of us suffered a bit from poor decision-making; both of us had FOLKIE, I had CUBAGES and he presumably had LUPOID. Overall it was very close, and by virtue of marginally winning the 'who can press P fastest' contest, I scraped through. Unlucky Kirk, cheers for the game.

Quarter-final: Innis Carson 187-157 Bob De Caux Bob unfortunately suffered from an early misclick, and it looked like the 10-point difference was going to remain for the whole game, but I seemed to hit rare form and managed to pull ahead towards the end. What about the %max record, which some might see as more important than the total score? By my reckoning, if Jack wins with 120 points today, he'll take the record as long as he drops no more than 18 points against the max. Without meaning to be too much of a downer, I think he's just barely missed...

Clearly if that works for you then there's no arguing with that, but I think for many people it would be easier to get inflections right by associating a meaning with a word and working it out logically from there (as you would do naturally) than by painstakingly memorising "verb/adjective/noun...

Personally I don't think I'd like this much, it's nice to be able to use the full time in duels to deliberate and check your answer and stuff without fear of it costing you. But I suppose as long as it's made clear that conundrum time matters, it's fair.
