Hiyo,
Bit surprised our new champion didn't seem anything like as strong today as yesterday. I was a bit surprised to find myself miles ahead after the first 6 rounds, he beat me yesterday.
See what tomorrow brings. Three equallers from me this time.

I really liked this game, more so than the average. Good quality contestants and a battle all the way. A reasonably lively set of letters, the odd difficult maximum and a crucial conundrum on the end.
On the buzz of 6 seconds it looked all over, but no, the champion falls.
Great stuff.

Hiyo,
We're in novelty land with the numbers again. Alas I didn't quite pull either of these off inside 30 seconds. Multiplication speed is letting me down a bit, I'm sure others could say the same.
R10: (75+10-3)*7-9+1=566
R14: ((75/5)+((10-8)*7))*6 = 174

R2 alternative DOPAMINE
R6 equaller RAPTURE
R14 a round the world way of reaching JB's slicker solution.
100- (75/25) = 97
7- (50/10) = 2
97 x 2 = 194.
R10 the 945 was reachable via...
100+25*7= 875+75=950-5
I threw it at the solver and that's as close as it's possible to get.

Mercury ri..er.... setting.
Hiyo, For anyone interested, the planet Mercury is currently in an excellent position for evening viewing. It follows the sun into the horizon. Best viewing time I think is about an hour after the sun has gone down, when the first stars are becoming visible. It's a fair bit to the left of where the ...

Keith + Orville, haha. Alastair Campbell and Chris Barrie, so we could see them outside their usual roles. Alastair Campbell is very witty so I've been told. Richard Wilson (of One Foot in the Grave fame) Melanie Sykes.... you'd have Des & Mel all over again. Comedy out-takes to follow for sure....

Unusual first names -> dictionary valid.
Hiyo. I occasionally encounter unusual names that are also valid words for Countdowners... Apart from the obvious Victoria, May, June, loads of girls names that are flowers, and occasionally fruits so I wondered what other examples people have encountered. .. and have encountered a person called Vir...

Carol misheard the selection for one of his letters in the second letters round. As his second letter choice in that round, he asked for a vowel and Carol gave him a consonant. Nope, I would disagree on both points.. Firstly during the second round he first asks for a consonant, "then another&...

Brackets appear after the scoring word(s) from the contestants, plus maxes from DC. I think. Yup, that would be it. This approach in my view adds a little clarity when it is being scanned quickly. Except always adding the (x) for a disallowed word or solution... just to rub it in.. nah.. just to cl...

Very well spotted Mr Reams... and I thought the mysterious absence of any OT when there's only one to be found would be subtle enough to pass everyone by. Not so obviously. It had to be an error or omission that didn't impact the integrity of the review, that's the difficult bit. It may be observed ...
