It used to mildly grind my gears when Carol would guess what a contestant would pick next by putting her hand over one letters box, only for the contestant to choose the other. Sounds like Rachel raised the game.

Of course it can. Rachel isn't unique in this. You should see the abilities of some of the Apterous numbers specialists. Your and my brains might not be able to do it, sure, but that's different to no one being able to. Rachel clearly can. It's why she's in the job.

Not exactly news, per se, but Innis Carson just finished a very impressive 15th in the British Quiz Championships. Smart man. Ian Volante was 37th, also really good. I was, uh, a wee bit lower than that.

There is a whole field of science in agreement that people invariably feel a bias towards the music of their teenage years and early adulthood. Between you and Paul, I'd say they nailed that. I am however younger and therefore right.

I don't think it is pedantic. It's a lot cheaper than the actual cost and that's a good thing. But that's not an excuse to exaggerate the claim. It's not entirely free at the point of use. Politicians etc. should at least be honest about this when talking about it on TV. Wouldn't be great politics....

Self-checkouts aren't a bad thing. they're better. I can monitor to make sure all the discounts work, I don't get rushed along, and I don't have to put on any kind of conversational performance.
