Re: CofC today!
Very good start to the new series - I have to say that I was dreading it. Jeff and Rachel are pretty natural... The recurring letters were very strange! I've very rarely seen 3 of the one letter come up. Also I noticed that the contestants now check each other's duplicate answers - very minor change...

Re: Spoilers for Wednesday 10th December SF1
It was the latter...it wasn't so much a flicker of rage just more of an "aww that would have been nice" feeling...I don't sit at home on "leotard-watch" if that's what you mean, nor do I expect the contestants to :P Fair enough then Peter - apologies for taking your phrasing the...

Re: Spoilers for Wednesday 10th December SF1
Also Charlie, another thing that I noticed, and was not too happy about , is that we could have had "leotard" in one of the rounds had it not been for your vowel fixation :( This immediately ranks highly in my "utterly baffling c4c quotes" list (which doesn't actually exist, but...

Re: Spoilers for Wednesday 10th December SF1
As I say, LAMEBRAIN was so obscure that Jo Brand got it. I can't believe some of the stuff I didn't get today. Our 9 spot has to be one of the quickest on record - the exact same letters had come up earlier on in the day. Well done Charlie, you handled the pressure much better than I did. Ah well, ...

Re: Rachel Riley Unveiled.
Fourthed ;) (*runs and hides from Damian* ) I'll jump on that bandwagon. Fifthed. I must be the only person who prefers Susie's segment before the numbers. Its a nice little break before the numbers round (which would've come in very very handy on my game... possibly). Agreed. I think it ...

Re: Spoilers for Tuesday 9th December QF4
I don't know whether I should be proud to admit I predicted Jo's "pasteear" or ashamed that I've been spending most of the game trying to predict what word she will come up with rather than playing!

Hey guys...this is one for long-time viewers of Countdown. Does anybody remember a particularly tricky numbers game back in the mid 90s (probably not Kai, for one)? The target was 831, which I remember because after neither contestant being able to get anywhere near, Carol was off by one, as often h...

Thanks guys
It was always one of those silly childhood dreams to be on there with Richard and Carol. Now that they're both gone I just am not all that motivated any more. Still, I guess the format itself is the real star, so I might consider having a stab at it.

Re: Carol's farewell programme
For some reason I'm not too optimistic about this show. The fact that it's been squashed into a half hour slot (so that's 22 minutes in reality I suppose) surely doesn't leave room for that many guest appearances, trips down memory lane etc. And I have the feeling we'll be seeing the same clips and ...

Re: Carol's farewell programme
I'm sure they could have given it more than half an hour.
I agree...it does seem a little strange airing it before the show instead of afterwards.
Heaven forbid, however, that anything should get in the way of Noel and his "bank buddy"

Hi guys. OK I have obviously done this all very wrong by posting now and again without actually introducing myself!! My name is Peter, I'm 19, from Belfast, and I stumbled across this forum during the summer, but didn't really give it much thought until I was reminded of it by Charlie on the program...

Re: Random Stuff
I used to work in WH Smith, and one electronic Countdown game was sitting on the clearance shelf for ages, and I kept toying with myself as to whether to buy it or not. On the day I eventually decided to get it and had got the money with me it had gone. They probably did you a favour, the electroni...

Re: Random Stuff
Okay, I'll try something random... wouldn't be awesome if there was a Countdown game on the Nintendo DS? Then you could literally play all day long, wherever you are. The DS has just about everything else and I'm sure it'd sell loads. Totally. Especially now the electronic game is unavailable. I us...

Re: Numbers Game Solved With One Number, Is It Possible?
Slightly unrelated to whether the target is attainable with one number, but yes I have seen a game where 100 has been the target. It was a CoC final (either 7 or 8, I can't remember which), however the large number in the selection was 50. Is it possible that maybe if 100 was in the selection and wa...
