Why does the wiki show "* *" for MARLIER - that was said so should have no "*"? Because MARLIER isn't a word. And never has been. No it doesn't make sense, but there are plenty of one-syllable adjectives that don't make sense to stick -ER/-EST onto in this dictionary. This admittedly wasn't an easy game -- max was only 117. FAZENDA in the FONDLE round seems to have been the only beater today, but there were a few nice alternatives including ADOPTEE and ERUVIM.

Minor oddity I noticed during the credits: The clock was reset to its starting position, while after an unsolved conundrum it's usually left in the bottom position with all 30 lights lit.

If number of points were used, I think the finals stages would be too predictable. "Twists" like that generated by the current system are what make Countdown finals stages all the more exciting, IMO.
