Carl Williams

I'm not sure if Carl did cheat, as I've heard rumours about it but no evidence, but even if he did, doesn't take away from his achievements outside of that game. Nobody's prepared to say which game it was, so I don't know if he would have won despite the extra points from the numbers. A few things: ...

That was an amazing game. Could hardly've been better. I wasn't expecting for you to go for six small at the end, but it paid off. The 806 was very, very good. Is that optimal? I think Jeff might not have been kidding when he said it was impossible; perhaps Damian put the numbers in and told him.

I seem to think for the second numbers I did (3*8-1)*9+5 as I like my nine-time table. Anyway, very good performance, a few wobbles but they didn't cost you. Seems you're a legitimate contender to win the series (this is only the second game I've seen all series, the first being yesterday!).

Good game from Adam after making a mess of round 1.

First numbers alt: (5*10+4+5+8)*9

Second numbers, one away: (50+25+1)*2*5+7

Very good spot on a hard conundrum. Good game, albeit not as competitive as I would have liked.

In my opinion anyway, what Rachel means by 'the trick' for the first numbers game is was I eluded to a few days ago: For a target like 896 the hard one to get is the 4 not the 900, so do 100/25 and try and get 900 out of the rest.

Re: Spoilers For Tuesday June 15th 2010

Jesus that was a good game. Craig as usual was unreal on the numbers, probably the best player ever (or at least, that I've seen). No reason to think he can't beat the#1 seed.

BTW on the decrees round, did he ask for a consonant when Rachel gave the the final 'U'? If so, I misheard.

It seems like he's so used to factorising to find solutions, that he didn't even see the obvious way. I too saw this in about two or three seconds.
